Every time I read an article about choosing a good domain, one of the very first points is always about choosing good keywords, since they're really important to stand out among your competitors.
What are some keywords everyone should try to include in their domain, possibly avoiding those which make the price skyrocket?

Having been in the SEO industry for some time, I have noticed that keywords and the nature of your business always go hand in hand. Let me give you an example. When I was working for a a call center company, we targeted major keywords related to call centers and outsourcing plus the country where the company was based so that when potential clients search for "call center phlippines" or "filipino call center," they would easily see our website on the first page of the SERPs (different keywords generate different results, by the way).

My current client is a travel insurance company based in Canada. I usually target keywords like "travel insurance," "travel medical insurance" and "trip cancellation insurance" among others. My experience with this company made me realize that the services you offer can also serve as keywords and you'd best consider them every time you make domain/URL choices.

While having a keyword in your domain name may to some extent be good for SEO, keywords in the domain name aren't as valuable as they used to be. You can use any domain name [take as an example alphabet's abc.xyz] and you'll if content posted on the site is great you'll still get good rankings and people will still visit your site because your Meta Description will tell them what they'll find on your site should they visit.

Keywords in your domain don't matter as much as the content of your site. SEO aside, I suspect users are more trusting of businesses that use their name as their domain rather than a bunch of keywords.

I was doing research on realtors to see what the competition was like for the agent I was working with who desperately needs a new web design. Searching for "[city name] realtor" brings up the usual suspects like RE/MAX and other established realty agencies for the first 1-2 pages worth of results on Google. The rest of the results were a mix of realtors who had their name as their domain (eg. johndoe.com) and ones that used keywords (eg. anytownagent.com).

Surprisingly, one particular city I searched for had a realtor that used their name as their domain name on the first page of results. The agent I am working with owns 3 domains and the one using his name ranks highest and the one that uses keywords is ranked lowest.

It might be possible get keywords without a major price surge. One way is by using extra words. For instance, instead of buying CallCenter.com, you might get The CallCenter.com. Of course, though, there are other options.

One option involves buying keywords on an extension other than .com. For example, you might create a website called TheUsed CarPlace.net. Note, another option involves using a brandable nonsense word like Vami.com. However, you'd want to search for a longer one cause short ones on the .com extension could be vastly expensive. Finally, the last option would be buying a nonsense word on an extension other than .com.

Having keyword in the domain has been reduced in importance hugely over the last few years. It may still help a little but its more important to have a short memorable domain name for returning users.

Consider relevant terms that correctly describe what your website is about when selecting keywords to include in your domain. Use industry-specific or action-oriented keywords after beginning with your brand name and, if appropriate, location-based keywords. Keyword stuffing can lower your results in search engines, so try to avoid it. The most crucial step is picking a domain name that correctly describes your brand or company and is memorable and simple to spell.

When choosing a domain name, your most valuable keyword should be your brand name. That's if you have a business you want to create the domain name for. If you have a blog, your keyword can be something that reflects your niche.

For instance, in the banking industry, terms like "account number," "credit score," and "loan term" might be useful when utilized as a keyword. In order to guarantee that the keyword selection is pertinent and helpful, it's crucial to keep up with current developments as well as sector news. It's also important to keep in mind that domain-dependent keywords can evolve over time.

When it comes to the most valuable keywords for a domain, it really depends on the niche and industry you're targeting. However, make sure the keywords are relevant to your niche. Try to choose keywords that are specific and not too broad.
