I keep reading this term a lot, but what does it mean ? all i know is that they say it could bring really huge profit but what is it a coin ? or a mining method ?

I Am kinda new to cryptocurrencies , would definitely love to read your explanations

Airdrops is like ICO but it is given for FREE, you dont have to pay anything you just have to sign up and fill up necessary details.
and wait for the distribution of tokens or coins.

Free coins falling from the sky. A way to get people to promote a new coin via various bounties and tasks that spread the word and recruit others to do the same thing. It also spreads the initial supply a bit. A method of decentralization and getting minions under the ruse of "free".

Airdrops are actually try drops. It is a flavor of crypto coins who are new but good income for expert. It does not mean that you will not loss your time and hard work. It is not so easy at least now-a-days as many are scams. Carefully research and take risk for a try.

An airdrop is offer when a new coin is launched. So they basically offer free coins(cryptocurrencies) to a large number of persons just to promote their coins and get more popular.
When that coin is launched on a exchanger it is going to have a value and you can exchange it for money there.

The concept started when the coins got into ICO. And they wanted to create buzz for the coin before getting the funding. So they started giving out the coins to the early adopters. That's the concept behind the airdrops. These days many fake currencies and troll currencies to earn VC funding is out. So airdrops are not something reasonable anymore.

At first there were legit airdrops and that time I didn't know about them. Then airdrops started becoming popular and every 2nd that gets released is a SCAM. Most of them asks you to buy them with crypto and they never gets released.
