I am currently spending time to learn the bash scripting. And learning how to navigate around the Linux. And also learning how to install the web frameworks and host the site. I have not much done on the hosting side. I have this experience of using the cpanel all the time. I am not much comfortable yet with the command prompt based VPS usage.

Anyone with VPS experience, how did you learned how to setup everything? How do you save time and reduce errors in such case as well?

Personally, I learn better while working on a project rather than learning for the sake of learning,

Let's say you want to use your VPS to set up an Apache web server but you have no idea what to do. Look it up. You might also want to follow some tutorial to get some basic knowledge about whatever you're interested in. Eventually, you'll start to understand how things work and you won't need to look things up as often.

Also, don't be afraid to ask if there's anything you don't understand.

I have learned through project too. The issue is that everything I have learned is on my own desktop. And not something I have deployed on server. So that's like i have done practice but yet to play the match. I may consider buying the VPS to deploy some project which i made as hobby. That's why looking for the cheap one. I have learned mostly through online tutorials and it worked out upto my current level.

You can temporarily deploy VPS workspaces for free using services like Codenvy or Cloud9. It's great if you just want to experiment.

I have checked out the VPS service named kimsufi. It is part of OVH. And they offer this cheaply. I have to test it out on that platform so that hoping to use the either docker or the vagrant on that server. Another thing is that hopefully i can find tutorials on that sort of the process in such context.
