Africa's oldest national park, "Virunga," in the Congo, has long been accepting bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies to avoid losses after battling a lack of revenue amid the pandemic, militia crises, and gorilla attacks.

According to the new report, now Virunga National Park is also mining bitcoin to meet its expenses.

Director Emmanuel de Merode credits bitcoin with saving the park from collapse after a loss of revenue.

This is very commendable as Bitcoin is trying to move uptrend. This news shows that Africa has woken up to the significance of crypto. The mining activity is well done will surely increase the participation of African in cryptocurrency in general.

What good news, it is news that is difficult to find. I think they do it to obtain a little more profit, as you say, due to the lack of income. I think that over time, more companies will realize that mining bitcoin is a way to use energy. remainder and earn income from it

True, as a result of this news, so-called environmentalists are confused; they refer to the environment as being against mining but cannot explain how to generate revenue while preserving nature.
environmentalists will always be judging everything that is related to Bitcoin, I don't find it strange anymore, if they really understood that the energy they are using to mine Bitcoin is an energy that was really going to be wasted and not used for anything else maybe its possible they understood better how the concept works..

Quite right, some people are against mining companies because of a lack of energy. They are absolutely right because mining companies use the generated energy for themselves, which is not available for fans in the summer or heaters in the winter. Environmentalists don't speak up because it puts pressure on mining companies to generate renewable energy.

Bitcoin is moving, like many others, to renewable energies and a large percentage of mining is already using renewable energies, as you surely know, but this does not happen overnight, probably before 2030 bitcoin will be totally or almost totally " green", or so I hope.

This is time of Green.
Like Virunga, others too will get into it sooner or later, if Virunga is surviving due to Bitcoin, other revenue struck Parks, Institutions, Organisations will also join in, a US University has also joined it.

That's really great as they have to employ a method that's not bad to the environment in mining Bitcoin. Mining Bitcoin is another source of revenue for the managers to help maintain the park. Accepting Bitcoin payment is a good step too.

The fact that they are realizing that Bitcoin is not as bad as they say and that you can use green energy or even recycle energy to mine it and thus not waste that energy converting it into Bitcoin is a very big step, I really think more companies and businesses will realize this with the passage of time.

That is an unfortunate contradiction. The people that suppose to save the environment is now going contrary to the norms and ethics of their profession. And most confusing is that they seems happy to use a means which is contradictory to the principle they are suppose to uphold.

Bitcoin is not bad as a crypto currency itself. That's just fud. What's bad is the energy used in mining it which can be outdated. This energy supply and mining equipments consume power and harmful to the environment.

The argument that it is bad for the environment is getting more and more outdated because since 60% of Bitcoin mining already comes from green energy and it is increasing, also if bitcoin were so bad for the environment what is there? of the oil industries? These should not be said to be bad for the powerful, it seems.

Yes there's increased awareness globally about climate change so everyone is adjusting. Same applies to crypto mining. Miners are replacing absolute equipments for better and more efficient ones that don't harm the environment.

The mining project is a laudable program that will liberate the country from its financial crisis because mining in large portion is a very lucrative financing that will take in substantial amount of profit to the Country.

What country?
Congo is not involved in mining, it's just the Virunga National Park.
Park is now able to get rid of many illegal occupiers in its parts. According to new reports, Park authorities are trying to re-establish the nature of park which it was losing.

Exactly, that is why the speech that it is bad for the environment is no longer valid, they will have to find another argument to discredit Bitcoin, then they will say that it is a ponzi or that it is pure speculation, anything goes to discredit it and stop adoption

There are so many countries that are planning to delve into Bitcoin mining investment because they knew quite well that they're going to make significant profit from the investment. Establishing a bitcoin mining farm would be very fruitful.
