Google launched Google Adsense on June 18, 2003, as a new way for website owners to generate an income by renting out their advertising space on their website. The advertisements that Google places on a person's website are either a text advertisement or an image based advertisement.

In order to enroll in the Google Adsense program, you must be a website owner. You will need to fill out an application and supply Google with your URL. Google will review your website to determine if the site qualifies for the program or not.

Once you are accepted into the Google Adsense program, you will be given a snippet of code to add to your website. As a website owner, it is up to you to determine where you want to add the code on your site. Your placement of the code on your site will determine where Google can place their ads on your website. Just keep in mind Google does have certain rules you must follow when placing the code on your website.

The snippet of code that is added to your website will determine the structure of the advertisements that are displayed on your site. Furthermore, this will determine the content of the ads that are placed on your website.
The snippet of code that is added to your website will determine the structure of the advertisements that are displayed on your site. Furthermore, this will determine the content of the ads that are placed on your website.

When a person visits your website, they will see the advertisements that Google has placed on your website. The amount of money you earn from Google Adsense is determined by the number of ads that are placed on your web site and how many times one of your website visitors clicks on one of your ads.

Google uses a CPC and CPM to determine your earning. A CPC is calculated on how many times a person actually clicks on one of your ads. Where a CPM is calculated by per-thousands-ads-displayed on your website. The CPM is also known as impressions.

Any business owner can use Google to advertise their business. Business owners need to sign up for an Adwords account through Google. After the account is created the business owner will determine how much money they want to spend on advertising through Google.

Google will take the information the business owner has supplied them and start displaying their ads on different websites. As a business owner, you set up your own limits and let Google know where you want your ads targeted to.

Google's advertising program is beneficial to both the business owner and the website owner. As a business owner, you can drive more traffic to your website, increase product awareness, and target the audience that is best for your company. As a website owner, you have the opportunity to rent out advertising space on your website to earn an income from your website. The ads that Google sends to your website are specific to your site and your website visitors. This is a perfect opportunity to earn a monthly income from your website.

What Are The Adsense Terms You Need To Understand?:

Page Impressions
: When we talk about page impressions we are basically talking about page views. However, there are times that a page impression will be different than a page view. This will happen when a person visits your page and for some unknown read the code is not executed on your page. Therefore, the ads aren't displayed, the person can see the ads, and you won't earn credit from Google.

Ad Unit Impression: When a person visits a page and generates a page impression, this will also generate an ad unit impression from the visit. Google determines the ad unit impress by how many ads that appear or are displayed on each of your website pages. An easy way to understand this is when your website page loads, the ad is loaded at the same time. This creates an impression on your page. Therefore, when your ads load so does the link units. Google counts link unit impression the same way they count ad unit impressions on all website pages.

Clicks: As we all know when you click on a link or even an ad on a website page, advertisers count this as clicks. Google counts each time a visitor to your website moves his cursor over one of your ads and voluntary clicks on this ad. The person must actually click on the ad and not the topic in the link unit in order for Google to count this as a valid click.

Click Through Rate (CTR): A click-through rate is considered a click on an ad that then redirects the person to another site. When a company calculates the CTR for an ad they will count the number of times this ad had a person click on the ad. The number is then divided by the total number of impressions the ad unit receives. When a person receives a high CTR from the ads that are displayed on their website, they will be earning a higher revenue from that ad.

Effective CPM: CPM talks about the number of impressions an ad receives. Normally companies use a unit of 1000 to calculate the impressions of an ad. In order to calculate your CPM the ad, the company will look at how many people have visited your website page. This is known as a page impression. Therefore, to calculate your earnings the company takes the number of visits a page receives (page impression) and divides this by your earnings for the ad. Afterward, the earning figure will be multiplied by 1000 in order to calculate your total CPM for this ad.
