Hello brothers and sisters,

@weblord here for more tutorials on how to upgrade phplist from old version 3.4.4 to latest 3.4.7.

Before:

Here are the steps while I do it at the same time, in real-time:

1. Download it from the official download page only
Code:
https://www.phplist.org/download-phplist

2. There are other methods to upload it to your server, it's your own personal choice, but this method is the fastest for me.

Prepare your file manager from cpanel or any webhosting control panel you are using, file manager not ftp.

Extract the files on your desktop or any place or folder you want. Then navigate to the folders you need to upload.

3. Backup your mysql database and back up your config.php files or imitate me i back up the whole directory or folder where it's installed just in case I want to put that finishing touches again i just made. Phplist will let you download everything even the files you don't want or even touch. Browse over to the folder lists that's the only folder you need to upload. Compress all the files there and start to upload after you made backups. Remember to extract files automatically when you upload if file manager permits you or extract it manually.

4. After upload of .zip file, extract and then over write the new config.php with the old one. Login to your administrator control panel/dashboard, then click on upgrade.

These are the following reasons why there's a need to upgrade to the latest phplist and I quote:
Code:
Fixes

Switch to Parsing CSV files by standard RFC4180 — thanks to @duncanc and Lukas Jelinek, see the pull request
Fix CSS to sharpen display of admin tables and avoid blurred / fuzzy font rendering — thanks to patriot1889, see the pull request
Display HTML select menu option text instead of it's value — thanks to @duncanc, see the pull request
Correct missing "=" in configure.php and core.php — thanks to @duncanc, see the pull request
'Community news' widget title on the admin dashboard is now linked to the news page for easier access

Hello brothers and sisters,

So I have version 3.4.7 of phplist installed on server. Now it's time for another upgrade, so let me upgrade my phplist and say here what I'm doing in real time.

Steps In Upgrading From 3.4.7 To 3.5.1:

1. Backup folder where your phplist is installed, backup the mysql database and backup the config.php on folder of config.

I can't show you the contents of my config.php for my security and safety purposes.

2. Download the latest version only from official download website
Code:
https://www.phplist.org/download-phplist

I usually download as .zip file

3. Extract the downloaded latest version on your computer's desktop or anywhere you prefer and upload only the files on the lists folder.

Only upload the lists folder content not all of them.

4. Compress the lists folder into one .zip file, you may use 7-Zip or any file zipping program you prefer and like. Remember to exclude config folder and especially config.php.

zipping.jpg

Zipping into 1 smaller file will trick any file manager of any cpanel version to think that you're only uploading 1 file thus it will be faster.

5. Upload the zipped folder. Extract zip file automatically, usually it's overwrite mode when you do this.
6. Login to admin of your phplist add /admin and click on Upgrade

Wait until success shows up...

7. Done. We're now using latest version of phplist.

Until next time when there's a new version for phplist. See you around.
