Top 3 Ranking Factors

1. Content - Content is KING, high quality content is the #1 ranking factor when it comes to Search Engine Optimization.
Most Important Content Ranking Factors:
+ Site Speed
+ Position of URL in title
+ Length of URL
+ H2, H1
+ Description
+ Video Integration
+ Keyword in title
+ Keyword in description

2. ON Page SEO - the keyword used in Title, Description, H1, H2, bold, etc and site load speed plays an important role.
Most Important On Page SEO Ranking Factors:
+ Relevant terms
+ Proof terms
+ Number of internal links
+ Keywords in body
+ HTML Length
+ Word and sentence count
+ Keywords in internal links
+ Image count
+ Keyword in H2

3. Backlinks - the quality and quantity of backlinks pointing to your site is the 3rd ranking factor.
Most Important Link Ranking Factors:
+ Number of backlinks
+ Backlinks rel = nofollow
+ New Backlinks
+ Backlinks from news domains
+ Backlinks with keyword
+ Backlinks with anchor as domain.tld

4. Social Signals - among the top social ranking factors I can mention Google +1; Facebook shares, likes; comments; Pinterest, and tweets.

5. Content is and always will be the main ranking factor, but without backlinks you not gonna move far in the SERPs.
And 2017 is all about user mobile experience, mobile friendly sites are a must and SSL encryption as well.

I agree on this part SSL Certificates and mobile friendly sites, since one of my site got dropped when their is no SSL certificate.
Backlinks really play a major role than content as I seen few of the sites are ranking pretty good without enough content.

One of the factors is how crowded or competitive your niche is alongside content. With regard to content, I am referring to post length and skillful use of keywords. Not to forget the originality of your article.

If you search about each factor every day, when you finish you will know everything you need to know about search engine optimization.

I don't believe that ranking factors are black and white any more. The days of having great content and handful of links whould rank you highly is long gone. Googles algorithm(s) are now so complex that they utilise a multitude of factors depending on the niche and target audience. So complex that time factors also play a big role along with user engagement (yes google can easily see how users engage with a website). For example this forum ranks well for certain keywords due to the length of time people view a thread and post responses.

Going back 5 years ago there was a big shake up with penguin and panda to try and fight spammy content with google penalising sites with poor content and poor links. You will notice now that google no longer makes such radical changes to the serps and rankings are fluid.

My advice is concentrate on producing the best content for users, try and promote your site where you can without over doing it (i.e. spamming) and just be natural with it. You can no long fool the giant search engine.

As for social media, this will enable your content to get exposure and your ranking potential will be based on how people interact with your site not the number of likes, shares and links from social media. You can damage your site by getting tons of likes and shares for content, but with only 1% click through to your content (website) and stay on it then it dont look good.

I was reading a blog post by ahrefs showing how much time it takes to rank on Google first page if you lucky.

It is clear that the factors mentioned in this topic are not the only ranking factors that matter, but they're a path that can be followed by a novice who has no clue about this subject. of course that, after following those, it is also a matter of luck and perseverence by the website owner to make his page attractive enough for the target audience

If you have micro niche site, then you don't have to have many content. It that case, should be very precise and quality. Some people suggest creating micro - micro niche site.

they suggest micro-micro niche as the chances of having high competition are much lower. but even if it is not a micro niche site, quality is still not optional

In SEO, there are diverse factors that help achieving good rankings, but I think one, if not the most, critical ranking factor is getting signals from socials media. I've personally had great results creating social profiles for new websites.

In my consideration, YouTube brings so many good signals, especially when you just create a new website and want to get it indexed fast. In this regard, YouTube stands over the rest like Facebook though Twitter can also get your content rank since Google bots crawl tweets.

Besides, if you rank a video, it will show up in Google. It's a double win. This works terrific for long tail keywords. And all of this bring quality traffic to your site.

Yes,I have read in an article, that creating long tail keywords can get fast results. There were many comments on that site, and there many persons confirmed that they have tried out this strategy and long tail keywords really worked out great for them.

Well stated,I believe to rank higher a good content is just the king,Google likes good content that are engaging and backlinks also contributes, ofcourse one should remember on page and offpage SEO.

I think the backlinks are very important to rank better in Google, especially from high authority sites, like Wikipedia or from other sites, which are on the first page of the Google.Maybe this sites will give you some backlinks,if you are writing quality articles for them ad they allow to put your link on their sites.

I totally disagree. Most of the sites in my niche don't even have any social sites, and yet, because they have a great backlink profile, they rank high for highly competitive keywords. In fact, one of my competitors doesn't even have that many articles on his website, mainly just directory pages listing schools and many of his pages are on the first page of Google for highly competitive keywords because he has a lot of quality backlinks.

There are sites that rank with no social signals address to them. But the backlink profile is mostly PBN. Also, there are some websites that can overlook social and rank for local terms even without PBN (I've done it myself). But as for white seo, and in very competitive keywords, it is essential to create some social signal for better results.

The good thing is that even though Google becomes more alert every time, there are always loopholes we can take advantage no matter the approach we embrace (white seo, black seo or grey seo)

To rank better on Google then start with posting original content on your site and use only real traffic not paid traffic. Guest posting is great to get back links and continue to update your site all the time.
