Before some days, a dude did backward engineering to tiktok and he found something weird, he found out that when a user downloads tiktok, tiktok downloads a zip file and extracts it, then excute a script that's inside the zip file.
What's more suspicious is that the official website of tiktok had no ssl certificate, and got it only recently.
Nothing is confirmed yet, but do you think that tiktok is spying on users ? especially that it has access to your images and pictures .

I believe it's the same tencent in the gaming domain, it's chinese too and the ex-owner of rockstar games started leading it recently .

TikTok is definitely spying on all its users, no matter the device they use. Personally I see TikTok as a Chinese data collection software. They invade all of your privacy and you agree with this when you create an account. Did you know they don't really delete your account?

Well this is a very bad news, and it is very sad that most apps providers are guilty of spying of on their users, if it is confirmed that truly they are spying on their users, it will be best to stop using tiktok.

India has already ban this app cos according to them it making it more like a data collection app. This is more reason we need to be extra careful with the kind of apps we used or engage for peanut at expense of our privacy.

Yep, it's the same company. I guess this is the way they want to infiltrate the world - by investing in various companies, especially gaming ones since games are popular and they may even find a way to spy on us through games.

Is it only for iOs? From what I read in other sources it spies on the device regardless of whether it's iOs or android. The worst part is it spies your copy feature, so if you ever copied a password or important id in your phone it has access to it. Good thing I never installed that app

Yah, it's also available to download for Android users. Dang, that password copy feature sure is extremely dangerous. Thank god I've never installed that app.

Well, you can't really know who to trust anymore, playstore should do some deep analyses before allowing any app to get into it

Playstore is more interested in the amount they generate, it is left for us to checkmate the privacy settings or permission we grant apps before installing them.

Nope, The US government hasn't ban Tik Tok as they're still considering it. But due to the trade war, and now corona, the rift between US and China widens so pretty sure they'll ban it soon.

I never knew it was this bad with Tiktok. Sure that app needs a lot of revising. I wonder how it is going to recover from all these since many people who became aware of this are put off already.

i don't think it will recover again, unless the users don't find out about it, judging from couple of tiktok compilations i have seen on facebook, some users don't seem to be updated about news or stuff or even know or understand about tech, so there's a chance that those people will still use it

This accusationon tiktok has been on for months now and yet no one has proven this data leakage / violation with evidence . even the banning of the app by US is more of political reason

actually if you read what i wrote, it's proven to be spying on people by sending data to some servers, the person who did the backward engineering for the app found about that

There is a difference between finding out an breach and proving that the breach occurred. The person if actually he had enough evidence could have sued tiktok by now, but he hasn't so is still not sure and confident of his finding .
