The French central bank is choosing Tezos for trials to become the next digital euro and if everything goes according to plan then this could be the first digital currency in Europe. France is the first country in Europe to be in the process of developing a digital currency. Tezos works by using the decentralized blockchain and uses the proof of stake method and also by verifying smart contracts. Italy, Netherlands and Lithuania are also staring to take part in developing a digital currency.

Tezoz can't be a digital euro because the government has no control over it and as thus may not benefit the government much. They may only accept it to be used for digital transaction
