Today I tested the minimum amount of Bitcoin I can send with a Blockchain wallet.

The fee was higher than the actual amount transacted but considering this was for a sciece purpose it totally worth it.

Not only I was curious to see what is the minimum bitcoin for a transaction but also to see the time of confirmation.

This is the transaction amount 0.00000546 BTC: https://blockchain.info/tx/91804f824f92f06918fe249e8f6b03cab9ed8574756a165f5a085526c64cb204

I will update you guys when I see it confirmed. It did appear in my Exodus wallet where I sent it but it says pending, so it needs confirmations. Let's see!

UPDATE: it took less than 15 minutes to receive 3 confirmations. It's fast enough if you ask me.

BTC fees are insane tbh and sometime even need few hours to transaction goes through what is ironic because whole point of BTC is fast and cheap transaction.

What wallet are you using? I have order Ledger Nano but until i get that 60% off my asset is on Exodus and rest are on different wallets because Exodus still don't support that coins..

You can change fee to 0 satoshi. It's free to send?

They have setting you can change the fee? You should try it out.

please elaborate on this setting changing others like me would be very much interested. The transfer fees on coin base is really on the high side would love to know about how to go about it

I think if you set the fee to 0,you can wait even for weeks or more to receive the Bitcoins.I have read this longer time ago, when somebody has put the transaction at 0 fee,and the payment was pending for a very long time.Better put any minimum amount of fee there, like 100 satoshis or more but with 0 fees is risky.

I also think this is the logical reason, the lower the fee, the longer the wait.

I think before we send some bitcoins, we need to check the current btc blockchain if it is not clogged or something, sometimes there are so many pending transactions, if you want to be prioritize use higher fee. I think it safe to use 0.00045 btc now, shapeshift exchange is using that fee amount.

Bitcoin transaction confirmation time is not constant. Sometimes it takes like 6 hours even if transaction fees was high. And yesterday my BTC transaction was confirmed (6 confirmation) with an hour. It depends on current mining difficulty.

Oh wow mr.B thanks for conducting this experiment for people like me who don't have a lot of bitcoin on our hands and can only transfer small amounts of BTC.

The transaction fees for many words is really too much high and yes some companies even have a very high minimum payout so that makes me difficult

Coinbase used to have high transfer fees and I used to find it difficult using them to make payment but it has really reduced now. I'm looking for a secured wallet with no fees, wonder if that's possible.

Currently, the smallest amount of bitcoin you can send or receive in a transaction is 5460 Satoshis, which is equivalent to 0.0000546 BTC One of the reasons behind this limit is to prevent spamming transactions.

I don't think if the small number of Satoshi will go through now except for micro wallet , if it will then it may take very long time considering the fee for transactions will be very low so the hop count will be higher.

I have not yet use blockchain wallet to transaction but i have face this fee amount system in a faucet where if you want first transaction you need to pay big fee but if you want slow transaction then they cost you lil fee same like you mean mr b..this is a good options made by blockchain authority
Blockchain has two options for sending coins, the Normal and high priority option where you will be the one to decide the best one for you. I do opt for normal because in less than 8 hours the transactions is usually complete.

Twice I received a single satoshi in my coinbase account from Bitcoin claiming site and there is transacted in the form of mass payment. I do not actually know what that means but still the fact is that I did get a single set ocean
Do you mean a site where you claim faucets from sent you one Satoshi as reward and you recieved it to your wallet with any transaction fee or what?

I simply don't know that how much transaction fees did they pay. I just received 1 satoshis as a sign up bonus from those sites, we'll actually they were applications and they just sent it I didn't have to order any payouts so I don't know about the transaction fees

It could be that after the transaction fee was deducted from the bonus only 1 Satoshi was left because I don't think there is any site that gives 1 Satoshi sign up bonus.
