According to an EWN article the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) has also cautioned South Africans who are caught in possession of such banknotes that they may face criminal charges. The warning comes after a increase in the circulation of dye-stained notes in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng, according to the SARB.

South Africa descended into anarchy shortly after former President Jacob Zuma was imprisoned, as supporters of the imprisoned leader brutally protested his confinement. Because of the disarray, criminal groups were able to go on a looting spree that is now anticipated to cost billions of dollars.

Sad development the incident that happened in South africa where people started looting people's shops and getting all sorts of things including cash money.Resulting in the death of over 200 people.

The governments warning of people in possession of tainted money is a welcome move as it is deemed as proceeds of crime.People should just avoid by all means.

This is why the need for digital currency needs to be put more concentration on to avoid tainted notes and others , so the citizen needs to listen to the directive of the central bank

The scene was an ugly one as many businesses were looted and this was indeed an ugly incident because people that are affected will have a long way to go.

Exactly . Especially non indigenous people in the country . Many people will have to start their life afresh due to the riot that destroyed their businesses

Imagine that, hope there is a deliberate policy in place that will help offer a stimulus package to the affected locals but its not easy to lose capital.

Hence that deliberate move to take any tainted note as a proceed of crime i presume. The government won't allow in this period money that will look like it was looted.

Exactly those money are tainted given them currency exchange issues and others , glad if the government could really key into this issue

The country's economy will really be affected by those riots plus the use of tainted bank notes. I am glad that the government is taking control over these issues.

Well , I can say about that but the government should have such because those affected didn't bring it upon themselves. The government should be blamed for that

With the pandemic that many business are struggling to survive , things would become more difficult , I just hope the people affected are compensated by government

Binance isn't living up to expectations. The sanctions that they faced in almost a all the countries isn't a nice idea at all. They've got to be up and running.

These bank notes that are old and stained are usually taken out of circulation by the central bank. It would be unfair to punish people because of their incompetence
