I lurk / post on several webmastering forums, and there seems to be general disagreement over which is more effective: social media marketing or ad-based marketing. I'd like to see what you guys think. Do you prefer ads to spread the word about your website, or social media, or both? Or, heck, neither? I generally rely just on search engine traffic for my niche, but I'm sure it varies from one person to the next.

Both social media and ads networks are very good, but these days a lot of people use social media, but then you can try both methods and stick to the one that works best for you.

Ads networks can only be utilized by those who have money. Promoting your stuff manually by posting on social media is more demanding but you can also build better engagement with your potential clients.

when trying to advertise on there your account might just get suspended because you're trying to advertise another company on there site

What do you mean by this? Many other companies are using Facebook ads and they're all promoting different stuff without any problems. Simply don't advertise something that's not allowed by them.

Neither is bad but obviously your preference matters along side the time you deem it fit you can dedicate towards any of them but for me social media marketing all the way

I prefer ad based advertising than social media due to one main reason which is when you post about a product on your social media page after buying ads , most people that doesn't know about your product will want to tarnish the image of product and comment bad things about it , this might scare away the real buyers

Social media is more dificult to divulgate faucets or exchanges or mining pools because they block the Afiliate Marketing, Facebook not permit it.

Well, currently all social media are against crypto so advertising any crypto-related earning or mining is risky, unless you're ready to get your account banned.

i think using both social media and ads to promote a website if I had one. Though social media seems best as you can reach people directly and it could generate more traffic. its my opinion .

Social media will be the greatest weapon rather than the ads. perhaps you've to invest your penny for the ads. Most of the people now using social media to promote their link and attract the others.

Everytime i would post something on social media my idea was taken over by the social media company. They basically took my ideas and turned them to money.
I hope you have alerted them to this, maybe they can change their minds and give you a cut from the money your idea generated?. Who knows?

Search Engine traffic is good and in the long run it would be of great benefit.

Simultaneously, I would like to use social media and ads until my websites, products and businesses are easily found on Search Engines.

I believe it is very important to be found on the FIRST Page of Search Engines.

If you are just starting, then go for social media,as it will help you build a base for your future marketing and growth!
After you become good in social media, then go for ads

Yeah, using social media, you can target the audience you link and get in touch personally with them which can prove to be very effective!

Yeap mate. But it's too hard than the ads. Cause, ads are showing randomly to the audience. But manually you need to contact with the audience by yourself.

Ads are watched by a mixed age-group audience but in social media you can see your followers and contact those who you find your target age-groups!

You are so right! For ads, your money just does the work and soon enough you see the effect but manual contact takes your time and more effort.
