The Slovenian Financial Administration (FURS) has recommended adjustments to the taxes regime that applies to cryptocurrencies. The government intends to charge a ten percent tax on cryptocurrency that is spent on goods and services or converted into cash. The new taxing plan will be implemented by the Slovenian tax authority through legislative changes. According to FURS the taxation of cryptocurrency-related revenue in the EU member state would be greatly simplified.
If the amendments are enacted the financial administration has stated that it will no longer be required to investigate a taxpayer's numerous transactions involving the purchase and sale of digital currency as well as the various cryptos they have purchased sold or converted.According to existing Slovenian legislation the taxable income from virtual currency transactions varies depending on the circumstances in each case according to the research. Individuals for example must pay capital gains tax on revenues from cryptocurrency sales if they were made as part of a commercial activity.
