Anyone got paid to review music by Slicethepie?
Please share some tips and tricks to earn more with this program if is not a scam.

I would not recommend using these methods to make a little bit extra money. There are much better options if you are just looking to make a quick buck. However, if you are into music or into discovering new music, this would be a great way to make money while pursuing a passion

If you want to get paid to listen to music without writing a review then you could probably try Musicxray. It pays $0.10 for every track that you listen to with a minimum payout of $20. If you're interested you can try it, but for me it's just not worth it because the music inbox is pretty dry most of the time. So it's gonna take you quite a long time to meet the minimum payout.
I've heard a lot of good things about Musicxray, but I'm struggling with the same issues. I've tried modifying my preferences, but I've only had one match so far.

I think with sites like these, instead of cashing out on a regular basis, everytime you've got $10 for example, I think you'd probably feel more benefit if you reviewed 5-6 tracks a day, then just let the amount build up for 6 or 12 months. You'd probably feel like it was worth it more then maybe?
I thought this myself, although I've also been advised to cash out as soon as possible as the moneys not safe until you do. In the event that a site goes down you'll be losing the results of your time and effort. It seems like a stable site though.

A lot of websites like these you should sign up to because you're interested in what they do and want to help the artists. The little bit you make extra is just a bonus to doing something enjoyable. I have experience in design and really enjoy reviewing the fashion items for example. I don't use it all the time, but it can break up the monotony when I fancy a break from other online jobs.

Slice the pie is one of the easiest ways to make money online if you can write without having to rack your brain over each and every sentence. The starting rate is five to six cents per review. I finish one review in two minutes so my earnings add up quickly. There is hardly a time when you won't have something to review so if you can keep at it you can make a nice income. Not much but it's easy money.

I'm also not usually a fan of leaving money in online accounts, but as you say, this site as been around for a long time now and is reputable I think.

There as also been a few rule changes to the reviews aswell, and they're becoming a lot stricter with what they'll accept.

It can be fussy about accepting a review if you don't use enough relevant terms for instance. I understand the reason for the strictness on some sites as they'll want to discourage spam, but sometimes genuine people can get caught out with it.

So pretty much you're not listening to the whole thing and missing out? Seems scummy to me, but I guess that's Slice the Pie's fault for allowing that.

I think it's silly that the referral system "unrefers" people a year after they get points. What a joke!

I was able to reach the 10$ payout twice by using the service, but I quickly realized that this was only because I was using it during a time where a lot of iPhone cases and clothing was made available to review. Those reviews paid about .25$ a piece so the thing made sense. Once I was left with only music tracks to review it became painfully obvious that the return of investment for your time with this site is abysmal, specially since the lack of consistency and rules as to what constitutes a good review mean that you could work for 10 minutes on a review to get 6 cents. That's almost insulting and bellow even slave labor and some of the tracks were beyond horrible.

Never do work for any of these sites if the pay is bellow 1$ per hour, that's my threshold for this type of stuff, if you feel like earning money for writing consider one of the many paid to post alternatives to this.

I have about 3$ to go on slice the pie before I can make my last payout but the thought of going back there and listen to that awful music to painfully earn 3$ after a week of work makes me die inside a little.

I also understand why they made the review process harder, and as you say, you have to now include specific terms that are only relevant to a music review, but I'm sure none of us have worked for Rolling Stone magazine or the NME so it's become a lot harder.

It's one thing saying what you think is good or bad about a song, having to say that but include sentences regarding the instruments, beat, tempo, pitch and melody of the track but for the same payment makes it almost impossible to earn as much as you once could unfortunately.

That's why reviews should be paid manually. Too many people make awful reviews which suck money out for everyone else, meaning good reviews get paid less. I don't care to hear "good or bad." I want to know what is good or what is bad so I can improve.

While I do agree that the poor contributors to a site are ruining it for the rest of us, manually paying each review is a good idea in theory but I doubt it would be possible in practice unfortunately.

I've never ran a site like that, only worked on one, but I imagine to sit down and manually read and rate every review that people send in would be impossible with the amount they'd get.

They do it, they go through all your reviews once you reach the pay limit and make a withdraw, specially if it is the first time that you reach the 10$, I've heard a lot of tales from people reaching the required amount, submitting the withdraw request and getting banned for low quality reviews and / or poor English hence getting nothing, so even if you are able to rack up all the reviews needed for reaching 10$ (about 125) you are still at the mercy of the person in charge of manually validating all your reviews.

I also think, and they disclose something like that, that you are rated by the way your rating for a song is similar to other user's rating for the same song, and I will go as far as to speculate that some of the tracks are traps, because they are so horrible that they sound like jokes and therefore should be rated very low by anybody paying the slightest attention and taking the thing seriously, so if you give a 10 to everything, even to the tracks that the community hate, I am sure that your reviews are flagged as needing a more closer look.

I used them a couple years ago when they first launched. Initially you could earn some spare money relatively quickly when compared to other programs such as pay per post or pay to click. However, listening to and reviewing the songs can get quite boring and tedious after about an hour or so of doing it. Back then they had better payouts, anywhere between 10 to 25 cents per review, but within weeks of using it, they started dropping their payments down to like 5 cents per review, even if you're reviews were considered good. So it really wasn't worth it to me to spend that much time listening to all those songs and typing out all those reviews.

Plus their platform was rather buggy and had several annoying quirks. For one thing, they used to require you to listen to the song for at least a minute before submitting a review and moving on to the next song. However their web site would consistently freeze up and not let you proceed until almost the entire song had played - I'm almost certain they were doing this on purpose to make it look like their users were actually listening to the song in it's entirety.

The other annoying thing was that they have all sorts of automated warnings which get triggered is you use any sort of foul language in your reviews. It will reject your review and tell you to revise it. This is ridiculous considering many of the songs I'm reviewing contained profanities - I literally cannot quote a verse from the song or my review would get rejected.

It does sound like the site used to be ok but now it's not, from what people are saying on the posts up to now then, and I'm kind of glad now that I stopped using it.

Going back to the review situation, how can that be right and fair? They review what you've done when you first submit a review and accept it, then when you go to cash out they reject it because they've had second thoughts and your submission isn't good enough after all?

I've used slicethepie before and it's alright. They pay fairly, but the job is tedious after a while. They also get very, very picky with their reviews. You can't have anything that's even remotely similar or they say you "copied" your old reviews. I don't think it's fair to do that because a lot of the songs are actually pretty similar.

To be honest, I've never tried out this site. Yes, it is one of the most popular job site out there. But since I've been reading a lot of negative reviews about it, I just became skeptical on trying it out. The most common complaint is that your reviews need to be unique from each other. And I just think it's hard to make unique reviews when it comes to songs. For one, there is only a few criteria you can judge and you're bound to repeat adjectives as time passes by.

Another issue is that they have changed the amount you can earn from each review. I have heard that it's more lucrative to earn back then but now, they have lowered the amount you can earn per each review.

Another downside is you need to listen to the song for an a minute and thirty seconds before you can make your review. I mean, it's understandable but for me, that's just a lot of time. But yeah, in order to make a good judgement, you do need to hear at least half of the song.

In the end, I just don't think Slice the Pie is for me. However, for lots of people, they do like listening to music, so why not earn something from what you enjoy doing, right?

I registered only to get a message that my country (Portugal) is not supported yet. I kind of liked the idea though, because I love music and I don't think it's really boring. Maybe in the future I'll get lucky that my country will be finally available.

There's no doubt that the idea behind the site is a good one. It helps the smaller artists get a bit of exposure by getting various people listening the their music, aswell as giving then feedback on if it's a good track or not.

The downsides have been listed already, but with a bit of fine tuning the site does have a lot of potential.

This is a good site to sign up for. I do this one now and again. What I like about it the most is its so easy to do. You can choose what you want to review whether it is clothing, music, or household goods. You simply write a short review, rate the product and give an estimated price on what you would pay for it. You get paid more as your ratings go up. :) Check out the site here.
