Many people wish to work from home for various reasons, the comfort, the freedom you have... You will find that you will need a specific skill set in order to be successful in working online. The following are some of the skills needed to be successful in working from home and earn passive income.

You need to be very patient when you are working from home. Building an online business can take a long time, so to become successful you need to be able to have the patience to stick with your idea until you begin to see success and beyond that. It is very important to stick with your dream so that you will not give up as soon as things get a little difficult.

Being passionate about your business can help a lot when you want to succeed online. You need to be able to excite about your business at all times so that the continued enthusiasm will carry you through any rough patches with your business. When people see how much you love your business you will see how great your chances are of getting the sales that you want.

Learning ways to promote your business is another skill that you need to acquire in order to have a successful business. Social media is an extremely powerful marketing tool that you should most definitely make use of in your promotional efforts. You want to learn all that you can to properly promote your business online as well as offline. That way you know that your business will be seen by as many people as possible.

Keep these skills in mind when you are looking to start a home business and you will find that if you develop these skills you will be much more successful with your business.

What skills do you have? share it

Patience is the first important thing for working from home, as it is the key to success. I am working online more than 5 years making decent amount through freelancing, blogging.
The one important thing is we need to invest time and money for making money and should get help from forums in order to avoid internet scams.

Many people think that working from home is their ideal job but it doesn't suit everyone. Not only do you have to have the necessary skills to be able to work from home, you also have to have a lot of discipline to make it work.

At the end of the day, even though your at home, your also at work and need to treat it that way. Getting up at midday and fitting your work around watching TV and taking the dog for a walk, isn't going to work.

The last two lines are excellent, but working from home is suitable for travelers because every employer won't travel all the time and they need to go, office for the wages.

Working from home, must have some knowledge for getting work, else you will be wasting your time.

If you have good investment, then you can hire someone for making money, although you should have experience for that too else loosening your money.

Conviction and integrity are the two most wanted factors to make any career a success, and it holds true even for the work -from-home jobs.
With the advancement of virtual connectivity, work-from-home is getting popularized. This mode of earning opportunities has provided the much needed flexibility, though, the wage is not compatible. Here, to make a successful career, one needs to toil hard, as these types of jobs are open to the world. Work-from-home will only click if someone has the tenacity to carry it forward, and a wit to dodge the traps.

Yes, patience is the most important virtue that is required in a work-at-home opportunity. It may take some time to become an expert in making a decent income at home. But with every opportunity every opportunity you can harnesses your skill which ultimately accelerate your money making.

But, I think instability and insecurity are the important demotivating factors in online earning opportunities. Nowadays we can see more and more stable sites are falling down like anything and insecurity of job of any kind is definitely an issue. I do hope it will change in future and there will be legal terms in place protecting online workers.

I do think patience and perseverance is the most important quality in working online. You should also be good not just in one skill. You may not be good in one area, but you can learn it. There are some works online that I never thought I can do and that's what I am doing now.

I am not sure if you would technically count this as a skill, but I know that establishing a routine and having a go to place where you can focus on work is very important. I must have a place where I can associate everything with work and getting things done, and really limit what distracts me, which is certainly easier said than done.

You really need patience and much computer savvy to work from home and be successful at it. When running a business at home you have to know how to properly manage your time and stick with the tasks at hand. Being in the comfort of your home and working sometimes can be a bit distracting. I think it helps to designate an area strictly for working and making sure you get dressed as if you were physically leaving to go to an outside job. I found this helps to get me into the mode to work and not to clean up the house or find some random choir I may have forgotten to do the night before.

There are people willing to work from home all over the world. Many of them are in countries where an American dollar will last a week. Including many with excellent English language skills.

Ultimately the only way to make money worth having in the US, is to identify or develop a niche where you can command a premium price and to build personal relationships with employers. The open access Freelancer board are just a race to the bottom in terms of the price people ask for their time.

I agree with most of the posts above. in my experience, I have discovered that the most important skills needed to work from home are patience and perseverance. Apart from a few exceptions, complex technical skills are not necessary as there are many opportunities that just don't require them and they can always be learnt if the need arises.

Determination, confidence and dedication are the essential qualities one should possess for working at home. One should identify what is his specific area of interest and concentrate on that niche with confidence. Everything may not happen as we desire. We should have the patience to handle every situation, either good or bad, without losing our control.

To earn online, you don't have to be too computer savvy, but those jobs were low paying. To have success online, I do think you should be computer savvy as most of the high paying online jobs were those computer and internet related.

These are really helpful tips. I was beginning to think I was doing something wrong because I have not had much luck making money. I guess I just need to hang in there and keep working hard. I've seen a few people posting that investing money into a blog is the only way to get it moving forward. Is this standard??

Working at home is just like working in a real office, except you don't get the benefits and security. I have worked from home since last year and although I love it, I cannot deny that it can be quite difficult to find jobs that pay well. If anything, we're working just for minimum wage and beyond the hours needed to earn a few pennies for each site. However, we cannot deny the fact that it is quite convenient to work from home. Here are my tips:

1. Be very, very persistent. You won't find a job in one night. You won't find a secure paying job the first time. We all have to start somewhere. So if you don't earn that much now, be persistent. In time, you will be able to understand how working online works and be able to find jobs suitable for you.

2. Be resourceful. There are lots of resources on the internet that can help you find jobs, forums like this one are a great way to start.

3. Be passionate. Do not just work for the sake of money. Just like in real life, if you love what you do, it won't feel like work at all!

Good luck everyone!

My best advice is take your work seriously and make others take it seriously too. Several of my family members used to think I could just jump up and go whenever they wanted because "after all I do not have a real job." Um, yes you do. If you do a job you get paid for that requires putting in the time and effort just like a job outside your home, you definitely have a real job.

This is one of my favorite topics. Many people think that if you earn money online it's some kind of "free money" That's not the case. Even in the online world it takes a lot of work to earn even pennies let alone decent money to make a living. One of the most important things is promoting your business but even that is HARD!
I'm still a beginner in the industry and would really like to be a success story some day :)

Hello everybody, well patience is always the key to most things in life. Whether you are promoting a business, blogging, or being an affiliate.
I am a stay at home mother and have been trying to earn extra cash from home for about for years now and it definitely takes patience. I started out doing surveys, and then tried artucle writing(didn't work out), task working sites, and recently being an affiliate and now postloop.
So far I don't quite understand the affiliate part and kept getting frustrated so I have took a step back. Which led me to poostloop, forum writing. I have to say I very much enjoy this. I will go back to the affiliate project and slowly(patiently) take my time to understand it before fully getting into it.

When working from home is mentioned, what comes first to my mind is writing. I used to have the impression that working online is only for writers because writing is the usual jobs that I see being offered by websites. But now I realize that real business abound like online stores and services. However, I still have to get a good grasp of how a business works particularly the selling part. And when I have enough knowledge then maybe I can try to open a small online shop not for the profit but just for the feel of it.

Patience and working hard, what are those things? XD
But seriously, when earning money from home you need some skills first. Maybe you are good with graphics editing or writing articles or creating physical products. Personally, I can do some photo manipulation and it has earned me a few hundred bucks in the last year. I could earn more if I wanted to improve the skill but.. I'm lazy
