Most of us like reading. We might have some books that we would not want to read any more in the future and won't like to keep at home due to space.

Other than donating them to the library, we can try to sell all these books online either via Amazon, Facebook group/page for getting some little pocket money.

Having said that, the seller has to consider the shipping charge incurred if the books are shipping oversea, if not the seller might lose money on paying the shipping fee which more than he/she earned from the deal.

Have you tried selling old books online before this? Was it a good or bad experience?

On Ebay you have plenty of buyers for old and new books. Amazon was good with book selling. But it seems like it has gone from book to other stuff. Now a days you can see that you can also use facebook pages and groups to sell the book. Just make sure that you have some way to ship the book to the user. That way you'd be able to manage the books just fine. It can be surely be of use there.

Ebay better for him because they send book to buyer faster

What a excellent topic @tiada !

Some old books are true gems.
Like classics for example, they never go out of demand. If you price is reasonable you likely to sell those quickly.

It would be interesting if we could compile a list here with rare old books and give an estimated vale for the book... then happy hunting! :D

Here is one very rare book, if you can find it in an attic or basement somewhere.
It's not even 100 years old yet but a copy sold on AbeBooks in 2013 for a whopping $15,950!

Book Title: The Velveteen Rabbit

Wow! This old book really pricey! Unfortunately, I don't have a copy in my basement or store room. :p

I know some old book could be sold at ahigher price at certain websites where the buyers are looking them as a piece antique rather than book only.

I love to dig some old books via the second-hand shops too for my own reading or re-sell via Facebook.

It seems like a good books out there. But it's not easy to have them. i am thinking about having the books which have some decent value. But it seems the gutenberg and the Amazon seems to be very good at having almost everythign in stock. But yeah if there is cost such as that on international basis then it's worth checking out. That's something I'd go for as well if we consider that ..

I have sold some old books but this is through a bookstore. I find it pretty troublesome to sell online since the delivery time might be an issue.

This book lover writing hardly will sell his books; I represent the other side on your monitor screen. If the seller has good reputation as used book seller and if book is in good condition then buyers will no reject the cost of shipping. Probably a negotiation on shipping when we are interested in 2 or 3 books, but otherwise, we will pay shipment.

That is pretty cool to hear. I was not aware that there could be negotiations involved. In this case, which platform do you prefer to do such transactions?

Mostly local online used bookstores, but e-bay/mercadolibre will do a good job also. I am very specific on titles and themes of books.

Yes I have tried to but was not really successful. I tried to sell only a few books through a Facebook page. I am still trying to figure out how to sell those remaining books.

It is mostly profitable if you live in the Usa,so you don't to pay for shipping.Especially the student's books are searched.

Hello, I have had a good experience selling some of my college textbooks and earned $30. I always try and look for a buyback book website that will pay the most for a particular textbook.

I'm a book collector and never think to sell it online or offline, some of my friends sell their ebook at good price and they have good feedback to it.

I want to sell books locally. But it seems like a lot of work to me. I wonder if it is possible at all to pay for the books online. i'd raather do that. for us indians amaozn and ebay has lot of redtape and stuff. so making sales through them is not easy. i wonder if facebook groups and the pages works in that case. because last week I checked the law it seems we have it pretty bad for selling books online.

We sell via Facebook group, never face any problem so far, moreover no need to pay any commission. And, easy to communicate with the buyer via private message or comments column.

I am not sure if I will sell some of my books that survived. Some of my books were drown in flood and I feel sad about it. If I were to sell books, I will prefer those fiction ones because the remaining academic books I had, it bought it in expensive amount and I know I will be needing it for future references. Sadly, I haven't found a store that I could sell some of it.
