Ads are everywhere, so the issue many times is, what is the best way to monetize our page? I've tried to used Adsense in the past and the income I got for that was ridiculous, so if I make an effort I can get sponsors to my page and sell my advertising space directly. It's just a matter of knocking on the right doors. What's your opinion on this?

Adsense is PPC program which means you make money only when the ads on your website get clicked. In order to ensure ad clicks, you need to have a lot of visitors and informative contents. You can of course sell your ad space, however, you need to have a lot of traffic to attract advertiser.

Pretty much, but what I was saying was that the space occupied by the Adsense ads could be replaced by advertising sold directly. Many times it's just a matter of looking in the right places.

It all comes down to traffic, like other users have said. There are several ways to go about finding ways to advertise on your page, but you have to have a certain amount of traffic to even sniff anything close to worthwhile. Then again, I did make several mistakes with my site so it could just be a matter of finding better alternatives.

If yours is an authority site [in your niche] then all you have to do is let everyone know that they can advertise on your site. A "place your ad here" banner in an ad spot would get the job done.

If you'd rather not wait for advertisers to make the first move then you'll need to do some research, make a list of businesses you think would be interested in selling — well, whatever they sell — on your site. Only the research will take a bit of your time, the rest is easy. Write one "non-salesy" letter which gives them good reasons why they should advertise on your site. Don't hesitate. Just do it. What's the worst thing that could happen?

Sometimes that is simpler said than done. Sure, if we are a big site we might be contacted by people wanting to buy our space, otherwise we need to look for them and convince them they will have return with us.

It is all about traffic though. If you are not getting enough traffic to make a decent amount of money from adsense, then you probably are not going to have anyone who wants to ´buy that spot´. The amount of companies using adwords is huge, and Google has a vested interest in putting the highest paying ads on your site.

The issue there is that we can enter with our selling skills. If we make good marketing of our site regardless of the number, we just might convince some seller to pay more than adsense.

We tried selling adspace directly because we weren't happy with our Adsense earnings. In my experience, if you can get the advertisers, selling your own adspace pays a lot more than Adsense. The problem is finding the advertisers, although if you have an "Advertise with us" page on your site, you might find quite a few of your visitors will buy space.

We did have some success with an ad management tool called OIOPublisher. It's a commercial tool so it does cost, but it lets you sell adspace on your site by day or impression, and allows users to book and upload their own ads. It can integrate with wordpress or run stand-alone, but it does handle a lot of the admin work for you, including placeholder ads (including adsense if you want), Paypal payments, etc. How it worked for us was an ad box that showed the direct advertiser's ad if there was one and Adsense the rest of the time.

It earned more than Adsense, but not as much as we were hoping. If I'm blunt, I think it failed for us because we didn't put much work into finding advertisers. We just added a sidebar signup, and that was about it, but we still had a few advertisers buy ads through it directly.

I have been telling my friends that complain about Google AdSense that you can make money only if the ads are clicked.Right you have tons of visitors on your blog but how many are clicking the ads, that is where the bulk of money comes from.without this you make almost nothing for months.

To me I think advertising and selling affiliate program is good, you can make decent income if you can have some sales through your links.

You can also sell ads space to advertisers to advertise on the blog.

You could also use an alternative to adsence like media.net,chikita and the rest.

I have read about it.Many famous bloggers sell their free spaces on their blog or websites to advertisers. It is a very good idea, the only thing is that you have to prove to advertisers that you have a relatively big and real traffic on your site.

such a good idea and bloggers and website owners can try this if they have huge traffic on their blog and advertisers are interested to pay them for their advertisements

yes,you are right. That's why are many blogs abandoned all over the net. Many bloggers have started their blogs or website with big hopes and invested time and effort, but only few of them succeeded. So,only the 'BIG' bloggers are contacted by advertisers.

I have tried it with kontextua. But the payment is something that needs to be understood here. Not a lot of people would be pleased to use the kontextua. And this has to be changed. And based on the part of that. I'd say selling the ads would be lot better option in that case. I personally don't see much value from the adsense considering it is low value ad system. I think for this direct ads is something one has to be working as well. So one has to use that as well.

Well, AdSense and other ad networks can only bring in good money if you have good amount of traffic daily and the traffic is from developed countries. Even the ad space you want to sell will need you to convince advertisers that you have good amount of traffic too. So bottom line just build your traffic inflow before you think of selling out space.

It can be difficult to make significant income from AdSense alone. While it may be possible to sell your own ad space directly, this can be a time-consuming and difficult process. An alternative option to consider is affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing is when you promote products or services offered by other businesses and earn a commission for every sale you generate
