❕NEWS Scammers Offer Free Bitcoin on Hacked Government Site in Russia as Crypto Fraud Surges

Hackers hacked the main website of the local administration in the Russian city of Ryazan around 200 kilometres southeast of Moscow twice in a single day according to Rzn.info, which was cited by the crypto news portal Forklog. Unidentified attackers posted an ad on social media offering cryptocurrency to individuals who downloaded a unique software.

Initially the con artists offered to send 0.025 btc to every visitor who downloaded the software. They eventually altered the offer to a $1,000 bitcoin prize for each of five randomly picked players in the "Ryazani online lottery," which was presented as such. Both ads have already vanished from the mayor's website, but a screenshot of one of them was released by a local news outlet.

I really hope the government dosent see this as a reason to ban the existence of cryptocurrency , because hackers have been portraying a bad image on cryptocurrency

Hackers and scammers who do and abuses Cryptocurrency should be caught and jailed. I hope they can be traced to be sent as example

It is sad that cryptocurrency related scam is increasing daily . Considering the fact that this one affected the government , it is going to be an issue for cryptocurrency in the country

I agree.. this can result in the government complete ban of Cryptocurrency.. hackers should have not target goverments when it comes to something they don't fully support yet

This gave bad image about crypto in Rusia and more reason by goverment to act seriously about crypto. Hope they catch those scammers and punish them with just..

Exactly my point let us see what the government will do . Indeed this is part of the reason while some Government is calling for regulation of cryptocurrency

My goodness! This is terrible. This shows that crypto is not completely safe from hackers. While some are doing it for the fun of it, some are there to steal the money. More reasons the government of some countries is against it.

I don't seem to understand the whole news around the hackers anymore. The hackers are really on top of their game recently. Offering bitcoin to the public who performs a simple task on their behalf is very confusing.

I think that any site that offers you free cryptocurrency is straight away a red flag and shows that it is a scam because there is almost no way that anyone is going to give you crypto for free without you having to do something for them.

I believe actions like this is the reason the government is really against the use of Bitcoin and crypto currency in some countries. I wonder why scammers can just stop fraud

The fact is things like this always give government ample reason to label crypto as fraudulent act. Though, I love the Robin Hood style of the hackers but still it is still not portrait good name of crypto in my own opinion.

Nothing new as there are to many online scams, phishing sites and HYIPs that originate from Russia. Not to mention, the government don't care too.
