What Is RequestBin.com?
Requestbin.com is an open-source webhook tester that is permanent and can be used to test HTTP events, either public or private and even using serverless node.js.
Features:
Called Anywhere or Anytime
The programmatical URL that will be your endpoint can be called anytime and anywhere via curl, javascript, node, python2/3, PHP, go and rugby programming language including the sample code that comes with your permanent webhooks.
Another Domain
The primary domain name is Requestbin.com, but the webhook endpoints are created on another domain name called pipedream.net. This is for the purpose of security and anonymity so they can't figure it all out what is your actual webhook address not unless you show it in your code. That's why .html is not included in the way it is called because this will display your pipedream webhook address.
Detailed Statistics
The detailed, tested stats are as follows: host, your headers, an encoding of the app used, the language of the client, referrer or the domain or subdomain that called it along with date and time, called non-secure or secure, user-agent or the operating system complete with the browser used. The only information lacking is the country or IP address of the client who accessed my website. Free comes with hassles as they say.
Deletion of Events
To save webspace, you can delete one single event or delete all of them. If you already knew where your websites or apps have accessed no need to retain the statistics on the webserver.
Pause and Filter
Would you believe if all the events can be stopped? This is a useful feature if you just want to monitor the said apps or websites while you're online and when you're about to go offline, make sure you pause it so your webserver will not be filled with events that you can no longer take action on.
Passed Data
You can delete statistics but can pass it via XML or via JSON before you delete it. Very useful if you're in a hurry and saving webspace.
Company Behind
The company behind is PipeDream, Inc., located in California, is the company that manages and operates this open-source webhook platform.
Technical Specifications
They got their domain name registered in December of 2009 from GoDaddy, LLC, and hosted currently as a legacy software in Amazon. You can call the webhooks via iframe and set the webhook URLs to be private, that will stop abusers from accessing it. They are trusted by 100,000 developers worldwide according to their website.
Making Money
There's no built-in referral or affiliate program for now. You can make money in the long term as long as you know where your websites and apps are accessed all over the internet, though the information is lacking the IP address details.
PROS and CONS:
PROS:
- Free to use and permanent webhook
CONS:
- The IP address is not included in the event statistics for the reason I can't understand.
