It's without doubt that PHP is one of the most popular server side language. It is what is offered by most web host. Also WordPress one of the most popular and widely used CMS software was actually built with PHP.
While PHP is good for most applications, it is not a full stack language and it is noted of being quite slow and usually not recommeded for real time applications.

Now come JavaScript, a language that started out as way of adding interactivity to web pages. Over the years it as really grown to be one of the most popular programming language out there. Here are some reasons why you should take JavaScript more seriously.

1. It is one of the most popular language.
2. Depending on the environment it running, it is noted to being very fast (alot faster than PHP). It is mostly recommeded for real time applications using technology like Nodejs.
3. It is a full stack language. You can easily develop your app frontend using frameworks like ReactJs, AngularJs, VueJs etc and then develop your backend using technology like Nodejs.
4. It is also easy to learn just like PHP.
5. It has a great community.

Although I don't see PHP going anywhere anytime soon, i strongly advise very web developer to take JavaScript more seriously rather than just using it to add interactivity to your webpages.

I try do some stuff with Javascript but I never made it until end. I never understood Javascript correct and it is often related or combined with Jquery.

it's not that easy to pick up ... but it can do a whole lot of things!

As much as I hate to agree with that (because I have currently not learned Javascript, but I ought to start straight away!) it is absolutely true. In today's programming world, Javascript is really important
