Owning a business with a partner

I would go for owning the business myself, as I already had some ordeals with closed friends before that I was more than willing to split revenues in half but the other party is not honest enough that he didn't gave any shares.

Same through with another friend of mine whom I purchased the equipment for our business and had him operate and I'll just have 30% share of the pie but ended up with mismanagement that I need to pull back the equipment and sold later.

Its hard to trust people now a days specially when monetary matters is involved. Unless you get some lawyers with you and made an agreement with your partner and have it all in black and white.

If I will own a business, I want to have it without having a partner. They say two heads are better than one, but for business, sometimes having 2 owners wont work. For me, I can concentrate more if I will run the business alone.

Do you find it better than owning a business yourself ?
Honestly, if you want to save yourself from a huge headache build the business yourself.
I never had partners and I'm doing great online. The key to success is WORK day and night!

I agree avoid partners unless you are in million and billion category. Even at that stage you can avoid upto some extent. Then I guess after some time the control needs to be properly adjusted. And on that basis you can see that business requires more understanding. And you should consider spending more time than that on things that does make money.

Partners can be a good strategy if they are well knowledgeable and add the value. Make sure you get everything in writing. That's how things are going to be there. I personally don't go for the business partner or so. Because that's more of headache in long term.

I would probably own a business by myself. I would consider owning a business with a partner, but I would of have to think that at the time. I don't own a business but this is what I would do if I did.

How does it work ? Do you find it better than owning a business yourself ? Splitting money for both of the partners isn't a problem? Do you often agree with your partner ?

I am thinking of venturing into business with a partner. However, I always have this in my mind. How complicated it could if I have a partner in a business? Would this be a lot better when running business on your won? The thing is I am still really not sure cos I haven't experienced either yet. But hopefully I am going to start my own business.

Not an online business but I did make
the mistake of going into a business partnership with a friend! Having also
watched several others go into business
with friends then watched the devastation
a few years later I really wouldn't advise it!
In hindsight I'm not even sure I would
employ friends in any future business
venture.

We started out sharing the same dream
and ended up sharing a nightmare! 4 years
and around £30000 down the drain later I
can honestly say do it yourself or don't do
it! When it comes to money it's amazing
how people you've known for years can
become greedy or would stab you in the
back to try to take the business for
themselves.

If you do go ahead check the legal implications
in your country and ensure you have a legally
binding contract between both parties! Don't
think because you are friends you don't need
it!! We had been best friends for 10 years we
didn't think we needed it we were wrong! It's
worth having a lawyer to draw up a contract
that covers every eventuality!! That would have saved me thousands.

I can remember a business advisor telling
me this after it all went wrong and I was begging for help! This phrase that has
stuck in my head ever since...
" The one ship you never set sail in is a partnership"

I'm a timid kind of person and always scared to launch my own business with any partner, Its really tough to trust someone because honest people are rare as I have experience with some dishonest fellow so its hard for me.

I would rather own the business. Starting it with support from family and friends is okay but partnering up is not advisable. Unless it is merging a business on temporary basis, I wouldn't start a new business with a partner but myself. I will still consider advice from interested parties.

I prefer to own business alone, less headache and i dont need to ask someone decision to handle it. Im currently owning a small business and i am really happy to watch my money grow with all my hard work. i can save a little by little with my earnings without any problem with someone else.

That is the sad part of having business partner especially if they are really close to you. Some may become greedy when the business is growing and would like to think more about themselves when money ruled their minds.

Completely agree with you. Not everyone can be trusted so I would rather start a business myself. I used to run a YouTube channel ( that doesn't sound like a real business ) with few friends and they stopped working, became bored of it so I had to manage it myself so I gave up and started a new one on my own and im working on it now ^^

Working with a partner or partners is not easy and there's always this problem of equitable sharing of the accrued profit. One partner does almost all the job and the other want the same benefits which can be very annoying if one can start and sustain a business better no need looking for headache inform of a partner.

Yea but its gonna be more tough for you thats for sure. The 2 heads is gonna make your business easier in a way but definitely the money spread is gonna be difficult :p Some partners tend to get greedy and get more than the planned cut and im sure that is making the other partners angry and thats how some of the partnerships get destroyed.

Well, I have tried before in a short time with my father. It never worked. We never agree on many things, I think it depends on your partnership.

I couldn't agree with you more. I have a lot of people who want to partner with me and it is a nightmare. It isn't worth it at all. You are the one who has the knowledge and does the work and all they want is half the profits. I prefer to work alone and what I make is mine with no headaches involved in this.

The easiest and the most reliable way is for you to be patient and sacrifice to build a business single handedly, this will enable you to make decisions easily and you can managed your business effectively without any commotion.

I think having partner can reduce your tasks. And also helps you establish yourself in much better light. You can think of your own task in this case. Also you can get your business done with a proper partnership. I can tell you that some of the time partnership requires more efforts too. So I think delegating the work with partners is lot better option. And you can do that pretty effectively too. Just make sure you start somewhere and build from there.
