Everyone knows that internal links can be good for SEO but what about external links? Does the quality of the links matter to search engines?

If they do, does it mean that if you linked to any site other than Authority sites the search engines might penalize your site?

Avoid link farms and reciprocal links, try guest blogging to earn backlinks the genuine way. SEO is an never ending task.

Do SEO manually everyday if possible to gain high rankings!

I have always just operated under the assumption that they do. This is not coming from anywhere in particular or any knowledge, but just my own cynical nature and way of worrying about every little thing. I would not surprised to hear that I am right though, because I can see where they can get into your site and bring down your rankings.

Yes, outbound links do affect your rankings. Quality as much as quantity matter when you're talking about external links. I do think that if you adopt a pyramid-type SEO strategy, auto mass pinging or backlinking of external sites that have direct links to your website and web pages can help boost your rankings. This strategy worked wonders for me in the span of 3 months. However, don't do the same for your domain or the pages under it. Your spam score will increase if you do so.

Outbound links or links that point the readers to other sites than just your domain are very important for SEO. Linking to other related blogs or sites, provided they're of the same niche, can help you rank better in Google. Furthermore, it helps you connect with other bloggers within your niche. Here are some tips that I can give you when linking to other sites:
  • Make sure that it is a related niche and that it provides good quality content as well (answer to your question number two). Utilise the Google Related Link Operator to find out which sites are related to your niche. You would still need to decide which sites are unworthy of being linked to.
  • Never use link farms.
  • Only link to a few, relevant sites (answer to your question number three). Make sure that they aren't private blogs or Google might punish you.
  • Link to an article that can explain some difficult terms in your article. Or maybe an article that has the same perspective as yours.
Good luck!

On forums, the keeping outbound links under control can be a challenge due to profile and signature spam. A lot of people are simply signing up to so they can post a link back to some spammy website. Of course, one way to deal with the situation is banning members and IP addresses. However, some people have claimed banning IPs doesn't do the job a lot of times.

Yes it affects directly to your SEO. If not properly implemented, can have serious repercussions from Google. That's why it is important to do it manually and effectively to get a bad reputation from Google.

For as king as you are following the proper webmaster linking guidelines as per google terms, external links aren't any bad. Worst of them is that they are well known for driving away website visitors especially if you make them clickable and opening in the same window.

Outbound links, or links that point from your website to other websites, can have an impact on your website's ranking in search results, but the impact is usually minimal. Outbound links can have a positive impact on your website's ranking in search engines by demonstrating the relevance and quality of your content. For example, linking to reputable sources can show that you are knowledgeable about the topic you are writing about and that you are providing your users with valuable information.
However, too many outbound links, especially to low-quality or spammy websites, can have a negative impact on your website's ranking in search engines. Search engines may see this as a sign of low-quality content or as an attempt to manipulate the search results, and they may penalize your website accordingly.
It's important to strike a balance when it comes to outbound links. Use outbound links sparingly and only to reputable and relevant websites that provide valuable information to your users. This will help to demonstrate the quality and relevance of your content to search engines and can help to improve your website's ranking in search results.

Outbound links can indirectly affect your rankings, but they are not a direct ranking factor. When you link to high-quality, authoritative sources that are relevant to your content, it can improve the credibility and trustworthiness of your website, which can indirectly improve your search engine rankings. Additionally, outbound links can provide value to your users by guiding them to additional relevant resources and information, which can increase engagement and time spent on your site, both of which can be positive signals for
