YouTube is the top brand for video sharing. When it was bought and acquired by Google, it has evolved an became a good business for them as well as other people makes money from it through ad revenues. Aside from YouTube, I am only familiar of two other video sharing sites, namely Metacafe and Dailymotion. But I am not so sure if ordinary people can earn from those video sharing sites. Do they work like YouTube? Are you familiar of other video sharing sites?

I am not sure about those sites whether they pay or not, never interested to apply or check them, because the one is Adsense with me is not yet worked with them.
I never heard any video sharing sites that pay similar to Adsense, but one was Revver a friend of mine used to promote them.
Can you tell whether they pay for sharing our videos? If Yes I could check with them right now.

I made a research. In metacafe, you can earn through views and from affiliate links. The same goes with Dailymotion. But the rate seems lower knowing they were way below YouTube. Surely, only few uses Metacafe and Dailymotion which makes earning not easy.

Vimeo is slightly popular, it has been around for years and they have acquired quite a nice rep for themselves, in fact most videos that are uploaded on websites via the web owner themselves, have vimeo as the video storage area, but most people do not know this.

It sounds familiar to me but I never thought it works like YouTube. I do see videos from Vimeo in sites where it is embedded. But can we earn some money there too?

That's where I am not sure, I do not know anything concerning that field and it is very different from youtube, as it offers paid subscription services to it's user.

Facebook is the only alternate to you tube that offers monetization. Also there are now viral Facebook videos and it has a large user base. Another good alternative is Vine because there are actually people that managed to have a celebrity status with vine. It is not the case though with dailymotion, vimeo, metacafe and others.

I have no idea Facebook already offers monetization of videos. I do hope so because there were a lot of videos posted gaining hundreds of thousands or even millions of views. By the way, I think videos in Vine are just 7-secs but can play repetitively, am I right?

Yes Vine videos are only short but the celebrity status you can have can give you followers on twitter, Facebook,YouTube and Instagram. If you managed to become a Vine star you will actually get sponsorship too. There is a Vine star who already became a millionaire. You cannot underestimate the powers of those short videos.

Got it. I think the younh singer Shawn Mendes became popular because of his short video on Vines. Right now, he topped the charts with his album and his "Stitches" single as well.

I prefer youtube over the other sites, however I've found vimeo to have an abundance of higher quality, niche videos not found anywhere else. If you are looking for a very specific thing, I think vimeo would have it over youtube.

i guess 2 to 3 years ago, but the story is different with metacafe now,
i can no longer find my metacafe affiliate links and also my earnings page
here's my stats with them
