As per BBC and Barrons, a while back President Trump ordered ByteDance, the parent company behind the popular short video sharing app TikTok to surrenders its US operation within 90 days or face possible ban. At first, Microsoft is the leading bidder to buy the app's business operation in the US, Canada, UK, Australia and New Zealand. But then, a new bidder surfaces - Oracle, the company behind Java, reportedly also interested in buying Tiktok. Even President Trump supported Oracle in the quest of buying Tiktok, saying that Oracle would "a great company" to take over TikTok operation in the US. Meanwhile, Microsoft reportedly had held the discussion for buying Tiktok. That's not all, even Twitter seems interested in buying Tiktok and has reportedly approaching ByteDance for possible buyout too.

Well, if they say no that means TikTok will lost its more valuable customers that's based in the western countries so their future is also doomed if they decline the deal.

Even if Microsoft or Oracle managed to buy it from Bytedance, I doubt they will remove those cringe contents. I saw a lot of cring stuff on other platform like Insta and Twitch too. It's up to users to upload quality content, but then Tiktok members are mostly kids so...

They will still lose by selling the app because the new owner will easily get back what they spent on buying the app with a year , and make huge profit afterwards

Ya, that's my point it will be dead for Bytedance either way. Maybe Tiktok will cease to exists after a few year if it's get banned in the Western countries.

With so much interest in buying the app and weighing the options available, why is Bytedance not selling and just get it over with? Or is Bytedance holding out against all hope for a possible comeback where it's been banned?

I think they saw the same potential in their app as seen by these companies that wants to buy the app. They just have to figure a way to get it the right reputation .

There's no way this to happen since the government of China is basically controls everything in the country, and they won't repair their reputation just because the West asks to do so, not when their spying operation is at risk.

Correct, though one thing I dislike the most about Google isn't about the info we typed in the Google search bar. It's the behavioral tracking that piss me off. Ever wonder why you see ads about pet food on other platform after you visiting a pet niche site? That's how advertising with behavioral tracking works.

It's scary that they sometime show ads about things that we wanted to buy even before we start to search it. They know when we wanted to search or buy it with probability.

They also sell it to many major corp, it's not only for ads, they use it for A.I traning, facial recognition, Behavior research, and many more.

It's one thing if those users' are aware and allowed Google to use their data. But what if they don't know about it and they use sensitive data that people don't want public to know? They're no better than most scammers online. In fact, they're worse since with their money they can bend any law as they wish.
