Hey guys, I've been into affiliate marketing (especially in the gambling industry) for several years, so I want to share my experience and gain some insight from the BMF community. I believe many of you have lots to share about your story, technique, etc.

What is online affiliate marketing? According to Investopedia, "Affiliate marketing is an advertising model in which a company pays others (e.g., bloggers) to advertise their products and services and generate sales."

As an online affiliate marketer, your revenue is completely based on how many people you can convert into buying goods or subscribing to services using your link. Therefore, you must have (1) Traffic, which is a metric on how many people visit your website, and (2) Relevancy, which affects how many people get engaged and then clicks your links.

Video is probably the strongest medium that can affect emotion at the personal level and can make the audience feel related. People get to see how you look and sound, therefore this transparency can create an emotional connection which can make viewers more likely to purchase what you're promoting as long as it's relevant.

Tutorials are a fantastic medium for marketing, be it in video or through articles. Usually, tutorials will have a good Search Engine Result Page (SERP) so it will generate good traffic. The key here is about problem-solving, to solve whatever problems the audience has via products you're promoting. You can then encourage them to try the product by purchasing it through your affiliate link.

Purchasing online ads to promote your product might be the riskiest strategy because you'll have to spend some money before you can see the returns. However, if online ads are done right, you will see the benefit. Only do online ads when your platform is ready and always keep track of income vs expense.

In reality, affiliate marketing is not a "passive income" stuff as it needs you to keep your content fresh, tweaking keywords for SEO (on-page SEO), and off-page SEO where you must use other channels (e.g. social media, chat group, forum community, etc.) to promote your website or Youtube/Twitch channel so it can have targeted high-quality traffic. It's a time-consuming, continuous trial-and-error process, but will reward you nicely if you have the correct mentality.

At last, you should join an affiliate program that offers a high commission. If the commission is too low, it won't be worth your time and effort. I have read people claiming to make up to $1000/month just by doing affiliate marketing, but I just don't know how or where to start.

Since you already did the job, you should review why you can't make money. Is it because no one visits your content, no one clicks the link, or no one converts after getting directed to the merchant site? Each problem has its own solution. It's possible to get $1000/month but very difficult.

Making money with affiliate marketing can take some time, but you need to set everything you need for your business. Just to give you examples;

- If you are blogging, you should have your website setup and you should not use free websites
- If you promoting on Youtube, you have to be consistent in publishing videos
- If you are email marketing, you should have an autoresponder because your regular Hotmail or Gmail doesn't cut it

The most important thing is, that you have to give it time because it doesn't happen overnight
Some people start to see money in a month, and some in a year

There are many source which you cn use to promote your affiliate program and I think you will need to source for the traffic yourself,when you have a better source of traffic then you can really ensure that you will make easy sales.

Affiliate marketing is a very good business but you need to have a better source of traffic as you said its not untill you have or know people one on one that you could be able to advertise to them.

Knowing a lot of people isn't even the issue but having a lot of traffic to your affiliate link is. You might know a lot of people but they won't even bother clicking or referring people to click your links.
But in a case where your friends are kind enough to repost and advertise for you, I think that will then be considered as an advantage to you as an affiliate.

Its true what you said is very true I think when its come to affiliate marketing what you need is nothing but traffic its the traffic that matters alot when you have a good source of traffic .

Promote your product and then sure you will get some sales.

The first tips which you need is source for traffic and I also beleive that you need a good landing page when that is done then you will be able to market your item easyly.

I have tried and failed various tips and tricks to make money from affliate marketing. So, when I read your question " What to do to start making money " Got me, I don't think affiliate marketing is for everyone or atleast as simple and an easy as everyone says it is. I know there are people who are making their living from affliate marketing, but there are also people like me to struggle to sale even a single product.

Well you may be right that Affiliate marketing is not for everyone or not easy. But I would say that it is easy. There is something makes it nit easy for me and you. And that is because we have not gotten the right strategy for the business. And most time , if money is used to do the business. It always leads to success. But with no money involved and no strategy, we will never see it simple and easy.

Wow. Your writeup is detailed and to the point but as a newbie, anyone that follow any of these might not still be successful in affiliate marketing. I am a witness to that. To the best of my knowledge, your affiliate marketing can be more successful when you build an audience that believe and trust in you.

Yeah bro, but how to build an audience that believe in us? That's from video, tutorial, website... Sure, my post is not the most complete list, but at least it starts from something tested.

For sure, it's difficult for newbies, but at least I'm not giving false hope that this work is easy and cheap. I mean you can use free social media, free blogging platform, but c'mon, you need to step up the game to build real quality contents at the end of the day.

Are you an affiliate marketer? Have you ever earned from affiliate marketing? Most of my earnings come from refferals when I am paid small amount but the real affiliate marketing is very difficult for me to achieve. I try my best to promote a product but I hardly get a buy. I mostly get clicks but none seam to buy from the product

Yes, I don't want to brag about my income, so I can only say I earned enough.

Regarding to your problem, well... if you sold goods from a marketplace, people only buy if they (1) have the money, (2) use the platform (amazon etc.), (3) trust the seller, and (4) care about you as affiliates. The steps are too many if you sold real goods from the marketplace.

Try other products such as VPN service, or other software that are (1) popular and (2) giving discounts if users come from affiliate links. It's easier if you market your product with this kind of phrases: "use this link to get 25% off."

True social media does play an important role or let's say it plays the most important role especially they way things work in the present time. If one want to get success then they must consider social media platform as an advertising platform to introduce their products and services. Many consider few famous platform such Facebook, twitter, and Instagram for promotion, but if you search alternative of these platforms on google you will end up with multiple result.

Like you have said. Social media is the best place to promote our business or website.
There was a day that because my blog has no views. So I had to make some post on Facebook and Twitter. To my own surprise, when I checked the stats of my blog the next day, I saw 98 views.

Firstly, it is very much important and necessary that you identify your niche. You don't just paste your affiliate link and expects make a sale without having some kind of authority in your niche.

Having a blog and a YouTube channel is a very good step towards becoming a successful affiliate marketer. now what you need to do is to continue posting and continue to attract traffic.

After some period of time you will obviously make a sale. I personally recommend clickbank for anyone that wants to venture into affiliate marketing because there are wide range of products that looks enticing.

Have heard so much about clickbank but the problem is that clickbank does not allow registration from my part of the country. The option to continue in terms of country choice is not even there. To be able to register on clickbank from my country, you will probably need to use a VPN and that what I don't even want to try because at the end of the day, your account might be banned and all your efforts will be in vain.

Before you register on any website you need to make sure that it is supported in your country in order not to have problems in the nearest future.

There are many alternatives to clickbank that actually allows people in all parts of the world to register and make money.

You can try jvzoo, the difference is that in most of the product you need to write a note to the vendor before they can accept you to promote an offer.

I am a registered member of Jvzoo though have not made any sale on the Platform yet owing the the fact that I am still trying to find my way to making money with affiliate marketing. I haven't really been very serious on affiliate marketing but I have learnt a lot of things about it.

In 2020, I ventured into affiliate marketing hoping to make money but I was disappointed. After everything I was not able to make any sale and since then I have abandoned it.

I have an account with clickbank, JVzoo, https://www.beermoneyforum.com/ and a lot of other affiliate platforms. They main thing that made me not to make money affiliate marketing in 2020 was lack of money.

But trust me it is very legitimate if you can build a very good traffic source.

Lack of money? Does it now take money to promote an affiliate link? Or do you want to promote your affiliate link with Google ads or something like that. Do you have a youtube or a blog? That's where I think you can start from and not having money. Imagine if you had a blog and youtube channel since 2020, by now I guess you would have grown your brand and affiliate marketing would have been easier for you now.

That's probably true but I simply lost interest. I wanted to do combine Facebook ads with someone. We wanted to contribute money to carry out the ad but lack of money made me not to contribute.

But currently I have the money to run the ad if I wanted to but I am into a lot of other things that are giving me good amount of money.

I'm also planning to go into affiliate marketing once I am able to set up my new business and it starts generating passive income for me.

@Kaluorjio do your blog and YouTube have decent traffic? If you want to "test the water" try freebitco.in site when you can get easy referrals because it's free money and promising free lottery every week. I got 60+ referrals before I moved to more serious projects. If you can get people to join freebitco.in site but not your previous sites, it means that your audience only wants free stuffs... You can also track your affiliate links with link shortener/tracker. That way, you can do more analysis of why you failed.

Would you like to share other things that give you good amount of money online? Will like to learn and earn like. Surveys is my major source of extra income online and I will like to earn more. One thing I always tell people that wants to make money online is that they must choose one thing and focus on it for a very long time for them to be successful.

You cannot be running from one online business to another and expect yourself to make money.

It's as if my audience don't care about what I post. Any video I post, I always get limited views on it and am just wondering if there is something I am not doing right. Most of my how to Earn online tutorials are always free but still I hardly get enough views to the video. I already made a video on freebico and still not enough views. Ah, so that's the problem... You don't have enough authority to be trusted by your audience, plus you only have a few audiences. No wonder anything you promote didn't get enough hits/conversion. Your journey seems to still be far away before you can monetize anything. You need to develop your authority by posting more quality contents, and get enough views first.

Here's the rule: try 10-1 at first, 10 non-promotion quality posts followed by 1 promotion post. That way you can focus on developing your brand/reputation while also sometimes promoting stuff in a non obstructive way. Don't post anything for the sake of only promoting some sites. If it's too many, people won't be happy watching your content.

Before you start affiliate marketing I think the best thing which you need to do is for you to try and learn some marketing skills also try and know what people love buying so that you can promote it to them.

Leadership quality is also needed and you need to have a better source of promotion.

People search for things everyday and you need to know what people are looking for.
