The Nigerian government is set to launch its own digital currency. This became pertinent when some of the countries in the world are keying into the central bank digital currency "CBDC" projects. The Chinese is the leading country CBDC project as it recently planned to integrate the smart contract in its digital yuan known as e-CNY.

However, a reliable source said that statement was issued by the central bank of Nigeria. However, critics have started reacting to the proposed project pointing out that the blockchain technology employed in the creation of the CBDC is far more than the technological status of Nigeria.

The digital Currency the country wants to launch is not a Crypto currency but a central bank digital coin that can aid transactions across border as the trend of digital payment get stronger.

Everyone Is Launching Their New Currency With Same Type Of Projects I Think We Should Also Create Our Coin Named Laughcoin To Make People Laugh In The Pandemic .

If you have the knowledge you can create and launch also provide liquidity for the coin , you never can tell it good pump beyond measures.

Honestly, I am unable to understand why Nigerian government wants to venture into digitalizing the naira when the leaders have not given enough room to understand the block chain technology and how it works.
It really appalling for my country. I wonder why they do things this way. At the end of the day nothing will be achieved. Infact they will abandoned everything as if nothing was planned

To update this, the plan and idea failed woefully and lots of bargaining chips could not become a reality, anything involving Nigeria hardly yield any goal.

Well many countries face such things overpopulation and poverty are the first things that need to be taken care of then coming to crypto tbh

That is where the needed and worthy president need to be voted in , because there are many important things the country to look out for in the country before cryptocurrency

Indeed you are right important things always need to be address on time do that the country and people keep moving on the right term direction

From the information I have gotten yesterday ,the president of the federal Republic of Nigeria will unveil their currency tomorrow , personally I do not see anything wrong with this as long as there will be an improvement and quicker transaction with the e naira.. I believe they will also accept cryptocurrency eventually in the future.

They've announced it's official launch of the CBN this October, but the recent independent shifted it further. At this moment I don't know when next it will be officially launched.

It has been announced that it is happening today so I'm believing that we would get it right this time around. I'm optimistic about this coming to be. So let be hopeful that it will be so.

Problem about this is.. what help can it bring to the people? Will it work the same as crypto currency which is being used by lots of people to make money and support themselves. Because if it's just money then I can not expect people to adopt it

The country should make use of bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies in eradicating poverty in their country, instead of concentrating on their own digital currency, which would never have a demand in the international market.
Your submission is very correct. I am looking at a country that would announce the adoption of cryptocurrency that will help fight the inflation that is ravaging it economy.

Okay, let's see how the thing go, if it will come Live in the cryptocurrency space to give us option to exchange our hard earned cryptos to eNaira and withdraw as cash when we need it.

Well the prefer making the fiat currency to a digital one with the introduction of the e-naira. So let see it this will serve the purpose as proposed by the experts in the country as it has been launched now

I wish my best of the luck for the people technical advancement can help but I think they need to educate users first before launching it fully to be honest .

There are rumours that the CBDC project have been launched. I don't see the government to be the taken seriously. We have known them to keep changing decisions and never consistent.

Well It Actually Is But You Have To Sometimes Take Seriously As They Are Trying To Implement Little Things Which Are Missing To Be Honest In My Opinion.

Well, they have successfully launched it. Am just hoping to see how on Earth it will add or solve the problem we are facing as regards to the country's economy. Most Nigerians are refusing to download or make use of the app with the fear that the government really want to scam people
