Affiliate Marketing is something that almost anybody can get into, but it's a thing that requires a lot of patience and dedication. Here are some of the tips and tricks that I have learned about Affiliate Marketing.
Putting the affiliate link at the beginning of an article for a product might seem like a good idea, but in reality, it can actually make some people turn away. It's like saying "Hey! Buy this car!" and giving them the papers to sign, and then telling them about it. Instead, try to explain the product first, then put the affiliate link in, also, it will most likely get people who would actually want to try the product to do so, and your analytics will have data on the people who are actually interested in the product, not people who just clicked on the link because "Why not?"
Finding companies that offer Affiliate Marketing are easy, but finding good companies is another. I recommend using sites such as CJ Affiliate & ShareASale to get a large group of companies who are willing to partner with you. This solution makes it so that you have one dashboard, one website to go to, instead of a bunch of websites that you have to keep track of separately. It's mainly convenience, plus dealing with taxes with these companies is easier with these sorts of sites.
Don't start a blog or anything like that with a sponsor right out of the gate. Try to build your social presence before trying to be an Affiliate, as it can be seen as selling out. Your social presence is the most important thing that you need to maintain so that you don't seem as though you are only in it for the money. Really put effort into the posts that don't earn you money too. If you put effort into everything you do, your base will grow.
SEOs are going to be your best friends, similar to how hashtagging (or tagging) works in social media, SEOs are the way to associate keywords to your post to make it so that people that search for the keyword find your post, it's also the way that you present yourself on Google, how it looks, what the description is, etc. It's important to upkeep your SEOs so that you can pull people from search engines.
My biggest recommendation is to take it slow. Rome wasn't built in a night, progress takes time. You have to be knowledgeable, understand how your market works, or just be really good at Google searches. Just take your time and know that you can make it, but just be happy for what you have already.
