Due to abuse and high level of power consumption, Venezuelan Minister of Habitat and Housing from now on forbids any form of cryptocurrency mining in any state-owned housing or neighborhoods that are part of the nation's housing grants project. This move will significantly hurt small operation miners all over the country, but needed to be done in order to secure steady supply of electricity in the country.

I thought Venezuela currency bolivar is having low value and this is the time to dive more into cryptocurrency and support miners, instead of them to forbids mining in state owned housing , the government should have provide alternative

This move will kill any small, household-level minings in the country, the government only allows bigger mining operations with better budget in the country.

It is better and let the licenced miners only engage in mining, if there is no stable power supply it will surely affect their industrial activities especially now that they in revival stage.

If the government allows only the licensed miner operate and leaving the small miner behind , will this not increase the unemployment rate in the country because most of the small miners might be unemployed

Yes, unemployment will increase, though I wouldn't call crypto mining a job either since they do nothing while mining. Plus we're talking about Venezuela here, the country is ruled by dictactor who doesn't care about its people.

If its ruled by dictator then I pity some people living there, if its some countries that cares for its citizen they would have helped those miners because this pandemic has caused a lot of things
But don't you think mining contributes little to the economy of a country ,the government made a mistake

I'm not sure just how big a contribution crypto mining has to the Venezuelan economy, but I think they've made a good decision. I heard, electricity there is unstable, and people can only get several hours of electricity per day.

Yes they need electricity but If they want to do such thing , they would have done it after the pandemic at least different sectors of the economy have opened . Not now that things are bad plus bad economy

The country is already in ruins even before the pandemic started though. Their fiat currency is worthless, even worse than the current Lebanese crisis, and like I mentioned before the dictactor doesn't care about the people.

i don't see any issue in that, as long as they pay their electricity bills, applying taxes to the miners would actually help the economy a lot

If only the Venezuelan government isn't corrupt and swindle like 90% of the taxpayers money to buy enrich themselves and buying useless luxury items.

Atleast for i have gotten something to research on that miningcxonsumers alot of power and that is what makes other countries to block it's access.

The issue is that those taxes been paid are high and people are not seeing the use , due to corrupt pratices by the government . I think something need to be done

Is quite a pity that things has gotten to this level in Venezuela . first it was government trying to control the mining towards their own gain , now small miners are banned from mining. What a pity .

The value can be discussed and calculated based on the income of the miners, the more they mine the higher the taxe is, i see it completely fair

Yeah the taxes should be paid yea , but what if its not been used for the development of the country but in the hands of few individuals then its termed waste

Indeed it is should be termed waste if it was not used , but then how can you tell whether it was used or not ? . the fact is that government gets money through taxation and businesses have to pay it with the hope that it will be used for common good.

The government is corrupt and much taxes have been a burden for the citizen , instead of encouraging them during this pandemic its now the other way

well, miners shouldn't really care about who's gonna take the money as long as they can mine legally and in peace, the rest is related to the others
