Is ebay too saturated to money selling products there, or are you still able to get a decent amount of sales every month if you're getting started or getting back into it today?

I used to sell on Ebay, but haven't for years. I am told that Amazon and other alternatives are now better. What do you suggest as the best type of storefront to have online?

I don't know, it's hard to say. I guess it really depends on the product you have to sell and the market for it. I have sold at both Ebay and Amazon, and I have also sold at Etsy. Etsy and Amazon for me were the hardest to make sales at. I am a polymer clay artist, I make miniature 1/12 scale replicas of food items for dollhouses and miniature collectors. I just recently started dabbling in making simple looking gaming characters like Kirby. But I don't do well with SEO and Backlinking so I don't get much traffic and therefore don't sell many products at Etsy and Amazon. But I have sold over $500 worth of items on Ebay and just sold something else tonight so I think Ebay is still a terrific option if you are just starting out or just getting back into the swing of things. That's not to say that you can't start with Amazon this time around because it might be better for you than it was for me. But thinking about it now, Ebay is probably a good start again since you are already familiar with it.

I just started to post to sell products on eBay, two of them were sold and stopped to see how much they charge.
As the items are sold on Indian eBay, so here I am giving the rates what they charged me.
The item price was Rs 800
Paisa pay fees Rs 52
Ebay selling fees Rs 60
My courier charges Rs 120
Now total price is 800-52-120-60= 568
I bought the product at the rate of Rs 420,
Now calculating the total profit would be Rs 148.
If I sold directly to the customer then the profit will be higher. The product was imported and their is no selling fees as per the Indian Govt rules, but this eBay has made a fees.
I presently started a sore and looking to sell from my own store, instead of trusting these sites.

The thing that turned me of eBay was their commission. Their commission isn't only calculated on the price of the product you are selling but on the shipping as well.

Yeah that is true too. They also charge you monthly for the sales you've made, but then again Etsy charges for every item you add for sale, and they take a fee as well. I think unless you pay for your own small ecommerce store at a site like Wix, Weebly, StoreEnvy monthly you will have to deal with that. But it's not that bad.

I have made money on ebay however, the only method that I have used to make money on ebay is by becoming an ebay partner. I place ebay products on my websites and earn sales commissions on the sales.

This would work, there are a lot of attractive offers on ebay and it could really boost your sales.

I sell on eBay pretty often and this is my biggest gripe. If I'm not listing something as "free shipping" then I have to figure in the buyer's shipping cost before I even list my item to make sure that I'm getting the profit that I need. I mostly sell clothes that I have bought on clearance though, so eBay is the best site for me at this time.

Yeah, I was trying to do some math to figure this out. But in my opinion, it is easier to make money just by being a targeted affiliate rather than selling the item yourself. it also is much less of a hassle and gives you more flexibility.

I don't hear a lot of good about Ebay - I'd rather go with Amazon. While selling on Amazon may not be the best in terms of strict policies, at least you do have the opportunity to "automate" the process and scale up with FBA.

I believe I'll try selling on Ebay and Etsy within a year though, since I work for Amazon and there would likely be a conflict of interest if I started to sell there.

On a side note - If somebody has a good resource available regarding selling on Ebay, Etsy or Shopify, I'd be interested to see it, please do share so that I can have a look.

Cheers!

Oliver

Hello! I recently signed up to becomea parner with Ebay. I plan to start posting soon. Hopefully I'll drive traffic and earn some cash! :-) Any advice??

Well,to me I feel one can make more sales with Amazon than with Ebay because Amazon is quite popular and people tend to want to associate with products from Amazon than other market places.I am writing this from the standpoint of an affiliate not a seller perse.

But I know have made more sales from links pointed to Amazon site than the others sites that I affiliate with though I yet to signup with Ebay which I intend to soon.

I think prior to shopify people used to make use of the ebay. And it was kind of profitable in the past. But now that many people are making their own stores with the Woocommerce and the shopfiy. I don't think the ebay would be that much profitable as it was in the past. That is what I can tell you as well.

When selling on eBay, it's critical to conduct market research and find popular items that are in great demand. Create a shop with a name and logo, list products with thorough descriptions, eye-catching photographs, and affordable prices, offer top-notch customer support, and spread the word about your listings using social media, email marketing, and other means. You may create a profitable eBay storefront and generate income from online goods sales by using the advice in this article.

Selling successfully on eBay or any other online marketplace depends on a number of variables, including the caliber of your goods, aggressive pricing, successful marketing, excellent customer service, and more. Etsy (for handcrafted and vintage things), Shopify (for setting up your own online business), and other specialized markets are further options to eBay and Amazon.

Ebay is definitely saturated but amazon has good competition too any platform you have reliable coming back customers on that should be your first priority brand names should come later as they just want to increase their profits by making you work for them at all costs indeed .

I like eBay because it is available in my country, but Amazon is not. In addition, you can try to make money on eBay with the smallest amount, since you can sell used items there.

On eBay, I once tried to sell things from a flea market, which was not far from my house. I managed to find a toy that cost 50 cents, and on eBay it was bought for $5. It may not be a lot of money, but I liked this method of earning.

That's a good thing in remember I had seen a method like this where some person was selling sim cards for as low as about 3 cents because they were free in his country and people who bought from him sold the same at about $10 each so big profits indeed actually .

You can still make money selling goods on eBay because it is a reputable online marketplace with a sizable consumer base. Research the market and find lucrative niches with high demand but little competition to improve your chances of success. Furthermore, it's critical to deliver top-notch customer service and optimize listings with gorgeous photos and thorough descriptions. When choosing the best type of storefront for your online business, it's crucial to take your target audience, products, and budget into account.
