Linkedin is a social media and professional community that put emphasis to employment and professional relationships. First founded in 2003 by Reid Hoffman and a group of founding members of Paypal, the platform mostly generate revenue by selling its members' data to recruitment companies and other professionals. This platform is the perfect place for job seekers and professionals, especially those who have a decent resume. Not only that, the platform also offer various educational materials for its members. Instead of the 'follow' feature that's prominently used by more mainstream social medias, LinkedIn has the connect feature that lets users to form a virtual professional connection with other members of the platforms. Many prominent CEOs and Chairmen have made an account on LinkedIn that makes it a perfect platform for job hunters.

While I respect LinkedIn, I have also come to dislike it over the years for several reasons. First off, I don't like how it's slowly gone from a professional platform to an almost Facebook-like platform where people are desperate for attention - case in point, people desperately begging for birthday wishes or to be congratulated for graduating. "Oh, it's my birthday, happy birthday to me, come along and celebrate with me!" Pathetic!:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Secondly, I've never made any meaningful connections via the platform. All I seem to attract are pesky, slimy men wanting to make small talk, which I'm far from interested in. OR people wanting to sell me something including crypto currency ventures, Herbal Life, forex trading etc. I'm this close to shutting down my account.

So in many situations wherever you find traffic it means you can win at something or get leads. As for LinkedIn, you can open a company page and the benefits you can get include the following;

1) Creating shareable content that benefits your audience.
2) Introducing new products or services you've developed.
3) Differentiating yourself from your competitors.
4) Finding job candidates who can make a significant contribution to your business success.
5) Checking on what your competition is doing.

I used to really like LinkedIn but feel it's really gone downhill now! I hate it when I see people celebrating their birthdays or graduation on there. I'm disappointed the admin don't stop this sort of thing. The platform is designed to facilitate networking but now it's anything but!

Maybe sharing a little bit of personal life could give people a little glimpse of what activities you do outside work as you know no one would love to hire a robot no matter how good you are.

Then the other thing is that people have become so much of a scam online and you would not know who you are talking to just by connecting to a profile. But if you get to see some live events it then assures you that the person is both active and a real person who exists lol.
