It seemed easy enough at first, just listen to the record and transcribe following the step by step guidelines. I must admit though, after struggling with this for a few months, that it's back breaking work.

I successfully joined Scribie. I will NOT recommend this site to anyone. Not only are the arguably the lowest paying transcription site out there, there is always a way to game you out of hard work on this site. To me it just barely escapes the labelling of a scam to get you to work the skin off your bones and then claim that your files were rejected without paying you a cent.

I've been on CrowdSurf. They're okay. I made it up to Reviewer status there, but even so it's difficult to earn more than US$30 a day working 16 hour long days at times. The bonus system is okay when they do pay it. Quite often they miss paying you this too, and when you're banking on it, well... it could be daunting.

I made it on CastingWords both as an editor and a transcriber. Their system was good and they paid well when you compare them to the others, but I was immature, just getting into transcriptions, and I missed up my chances with them. So there goes that. I would recommend them though.

I made it on Go Transcript. Initially, I was really scared because they can have some terrible audio files, but they do have some good ones too. I've had some successes there and was offered to try out for Editor. Now, I think of all the sites listed, you can actually make a bit of money on Go Transcript, but it's still below minimum wage.

I've tried and tried for Rev, but never made it past the test though I did everything according to their guidelines.

I am just terribly exhausted. Is there any transcription site at all that even pays a decent hourly wage that I haven't listed?

the rev transcription sample is quite difficult to deal with especially if the speaker changes and you want to insert a new speaker, it just won't obey you, their editor is quite difficult to handle not to mention those inaudible voices i hear on the background.

I believe Rev.com is country biased or biased on some other thing.
I am pretty sure my test was 99% accurate. Yet they rejected my application. Its not fair.

You live in the 1st world country, you should be glad. Our 3rd world country is so shitty, working for 16 hours and making $30 is heroic, unemployment is a nightmare. I make more than that sometimes on crowdsurf but I have been doing this for years. I guess experience plays a big part in this.

Experience is key, i make around $800-$1800 depending on work volume. I also have clients, that has helped and my quality is above and beyond great

$800-$1800 for a day? How many hours you work per day if you don't mind my asking? Not that many people are able to earn that much working as transcriber, especially how now more and more people joining in, this means there are more workers than demand for transcribing.
