Jaxx is a multi-crypto wallet for storing digital currencies like Bitcoin Ethereum etc. It was created by Anthony De lorio - Ethereum co founder. The wallet was created back in 2015 and currently support the storing and transaction of over 70 digital currencies at the same time. Jaxx has a large userbase cause it's beginner friendly and it is regarded as on of the best wallet for storing Ethereum.
Jaxx wallet is currently been developed by Decentral, a company well known for developing Bitcoin ATMs and other cryptocurrency related services. Currently, Jaxx has a new product called Jaxx Liberty which seems to be the successor of Jaxx Wallet.
Pro:
1. Simplicity: Jaxx was designed to be portable and your wallet mnemonic is just 12 phrases long.
2. Multiple Platform Support: As part of being portable, Jaxx currently supports all popular mobile and desktop platform. It currently provides support for Android, iOS, Windows, Mac, Linux and even chrome app.
3. Integrated Support For ShapeShift: ShapeShift is an instant cryptocurrency exchange for Bitcoin and Altcoins, it is directly integrated into jaxx making it convenient for users who want to instantly exchange their cryptocurrencies directly in the app.
4. Responsive Support: Even with the risk involved in managing cryptocurrencies, reading through reviews, one would notice that Jaxx has a working support that are ready to help users with issues and also respond to bug report.
Cons:
1. User Interface Needs Improvement: For a crypto wallet created back in 2015, this really shows in it mobile wallet interface. Alot could be done to simplify and overall improve it to meet today's standards.
2. Report Of Hacking: There was a report on how a hacker hacked a user wallet and stole 973 ETH. Though Jaxx team claimed that it was due to the fact that the user phone was rooted and that it won't be possible otherwise.
3. Flaws In Security: They are reports of flaws in the way Jaxx encrypt and stores users private credentials. It was noted that encryption were done on a software level without taking into account user password which makes any hacker with access to the app's database to be able to decrypt user credentials and steal user fund.
Personally, I would love to recommend Jaxx wallet but it security flaws is what's turning me off, it seems the Jaxx team are aware of this that's why they are shifting their focus to their new product Jaxx Liberty which is also a multi-crypto wallet app.
For anyone wanting to give Jaxx a shot, i urge you to try Jaxx Liberty Wallet instead cause it just a matter of time before the Jaxx team drop support for Jaxx wallet and focus only on Jaxx Liberty.
