Hello Guys,

I have a question about MONERO (XMR), Being the first coin i knew a lot about, i wanted to mine it some time ago but couldn't afford doing it on my computer, but now i have a vps i want to try mining at and my question is it still profitable ? or should i focus on some newer ICOS that are appearing lately ?

If you don't mind share your thoughts below as i am looking forward to reading them

Without sharing your specs it's really hard to say

If you are not aware of minergate I recommend you to try it at least for a quick benchmark, after download the software (this one is a ref link in case you have never try :) ) nothing to buy, don't worry. You gonna have the possibility to try mining Monero and other cryptos aswell I don't know if they have updated their stuff but not all the crypto are included in the benchmark tool so paid attention and try the one you want after). They gonna give you an approximation about what can you expect in $ for 365 days of non-stop mining, but I don't think the increase of difficulty are estimated, so it's gonna be less. But it's still a nice tool for you to know what it's possible to aim, right now.

But if you plan to use your VPS 24H/24H for mining be sure it's allowed by the company who provide you this service, you can try to fool them but you risk to have to stop or even get banned if it's a free service. I never try that it's just something I have read when I was thinking about try it myself. Generally, if the device is shared between several users you are not allowed to do that.
Don't try ether & ether classic even at a reduced power if it's CPU only, you gonna have (not all the time^^) some ok result but you have high risk of bug if you dare move your mouse^^. (This part is my own experience :)). So it's can be rude to try this and make the server bug, don't let you being fool by 10 minutes of no-bug, problem appear after less than one hour sometimes.
There is for sure other alternatives but I'am a bit too lazy right now for try an exhaustive list ^^.

nice question there camper,

in my opinion and ofcourse as we can all see monero price is on good range i think it is about 202$ as i am typing this.
and mining is worth it but the electricity and time is frustrating

i suggest you to use cloud mining or investment

i have recently came across a telegram bot which is paying me good right now for alittle investment. and i am saving my electricy while i'm earning more than ever.

I think that Monero mining like Bitcoin mining is unfortunately "little bit too late to party". In my opinion, there are some better mining alternatives (some of them don't require a strong PC/laptop at all).

Stay away from Minergate
Minergate has good mining software in my opinion, for mobile phone or Pc
But some miners including me reported on bitcointalk because the hashrate is lower there
And some said that their cloud mining is just like scam, fake stats
Not mention that to request payout you will have to mine forever using mobile phones.

For the defence of minergate, you can reach classic miningpool result if you use a console miner you cannot properly configure it in the more efficient way, but it's enough to know if mining Monero can be profitable for your spec or if mining other are better for you.
+ my advice was for a beginner, on minergate you have tutorials to use console miner and link for compatible one.
If you just get started is not a bad idea to take one hour on minergate to test and learn.
