Instagram recently rolled out a new test that lets users to hide or unhide numeral counter for likes. As a follow-up of a test that was conducted last year, this time the platform gives more freedom to users on what content they would like to see the count, be it other people's posts or their own. Facebook has confirmed that they will soon test out similar feature on their platform.

I think facebook should test out such thing too ,because there are some kind of post some users dont really like seeing from posters , i think it would be better they adopt it

I guess it must be a feature users have asked for if it is being tested on both platforms. How that contributes to the uniqueness of the platform remains to be seen
It would still make both platform different from the competitior platform ,because that is the uniqueness and idea that platform is initiating

It means you will be in control of what you see or watch, also the content you send out. This will reduce to some of the issues been experience by Instagram.

Yeah but the issue is that will users be also permittted to view and choose the kind of ads they want to see ,because that's many users target

That is a very good feature for both Facebook and Instagram. Indeed it is not all posts that one may be interested in viewing. So having to make a personal choice is very good.

What the benefit of this idea for instagram and facebook?
Off course this is a good news for their user but sometimes i like ads appear in my timeline... Hmmm

Wow you like seeing those ads ?? , i think It's not everyone that love seeing those ads of Instagram and Facebook that is the main issue in the situation

Instagram is one of the few communities that have been committed to ensuring that the mental health of their customers is always put first . in as much as I believe this kind of development are very unnecessary and people should be able to grow up their self-esteem I really recommend it.

That seems like a very weird feature to have because if you are posting something up then you shoudl be able to see how many people like it because there must be a reason that it was posted. People post for user interaction and therefore i don't see the merit in this.

I love that they put this option. I always got insecure about posting pictures on Instagram because of the like count. I am part of a pretty big and popular group at school, and all of my friends have loads of followers and likes. Before meeting them, I didn't use Instagram that much so I never really cared about my account and all of these things. When I started posting and didn't get any likes or followers, I felt like such a loser compared to them. I actually bought followers and likes on https://megafamous.com to feel validated. Now I just hide my like count, and I actually stopped caring about stupid things like these.

although people actually do competiton for likes and others ,so they introducing counter would make some people have that peace and not be too bothered about not getting likes up to the ones their peers are getting ,with what am seeing it's a good development and should be encouraged

For the investors , who are going to promote through instagram pages this isnt good, because when the likes and follows are hidden you won't be able to know what is the active public of the instagram account and how much visits it generates per publication..

I have seen this from a lot of accounts but I really do not know exactly what they hope to achieve. I understand that this is to protect some people's mental health from trying to compare yourself with others but then they can also give users the opportunity to be able to switch off the like counter or not.

the part I don't like is the dislike button switched off by YouTube ,some people actually like the button ,they could just put those buttons ,some people don't care of mental health or what ever ,but it seems that they are actually not interested in doing such kind of thing ,they want to protect people mental health

This is also something that I have been wishing that the platform should introduce because the like button is not a fair interpretation of what a person might be able to feel after seeing a post. The counter like button is going to allow people to be able to communicate what they actually feel about the picture or even warn orders.

yeah most times people abuses it and at times it could be done on purpose to tag the video red flag coming from haters ,so YouTube actually want people to watch it and give their own rating and not just placing a dislike button there ,for people to click the wrong things on the video ,instead of the right thing
