❓ASK Infinite scroll down - good or bad ?

First trend was breaking an article into pieces so that the page should not stand very long and this slicing technique is good for SEO.

Now even Google search results, Pinterest they follow infinite scrolls leaving pagination behind.

So what do you think infinite scrolling good or bad for SEO ?

Infinite scrolling isn't really for SEO, but more for keeping people on your page. The less effort it is for someone to find a new article on your site, the more likely they'll find articles they like and continue reading. Just make sure its done right - unload images that have been scrolled past to prevent memory usage problems (reddit is a victim of this), and reccomend articles that the person would logically be interested in (e.g. an article about how cryptocurrency is good should not lead to an article about pandas).

well said. infinite scrolling helps readers but I am wondering if a reader has not saved any info and used a lot of portion he may not be able to find it again like if it was a certain link he could save that like bookmarking but I think infinite scrolling is not so good in SEO perspective because Search Engines deal with URL's they might bd confused if they find duplicate content like everything in home page again !

in my perspective I don't really like infinite scroll it's so annoying especially if it's in a blog site
I don't recommend to use it
do the most reading articles in the home page is better than infinite scroll

I don't suggest that because browsing the website gets bored in a while, also some people remembers the topics using the pages numbers so that's a point

I personally don't like it because it seems too boring and if you refresh the page by mistake you have to keep scrolling again, also you might lose while scrolling and searching for a specific thread .

There's nothing bad about it before it will help keep users longer on your page but make sure it has related topics to what the visitor is first reading but I don't think it really help with SEO

indeed good point. some people love to keep track on links then when they hit they dont get what they need. but it can be solved with a cool save post or add to fav feature.

By infinity scroll do you mean auto-paging, that is instead of the traditional page system, visitors can simply move to the edge of the page and the the next page automatically loads without clicking on the next button?

It may not be good for SEO as short articles are preferred and some blogs break a long article to several pages that helps in pageviews of ads too cause a reader will ho through all pages.

I definitely do not appreciate infinite scrolling on blogs since many times I note down pages to visit later on and it may be tedious having to scroll through all over again to get the information again.

Good point. there is no marking or exact link or stopage. Again its like we click and recent all stuffs get lost if page reloads on same page. so from usage perspective its not so good. also destroys memory for low capacity devices.

We cannot mark a position in case of pinterest type infinite scrolling. But its true likewise the approach of scrolling is very popular and easy for smartphone users. Now the question is, whether good or bad for SEO? I think its not extraordinary positive to be counted for SEO. what do you think?

Exactly. Smartphone users surely to love pixel-perfect scrolling. Feature was introduced keepong smartphone on mind. For me, it has no such impact on SEO unlike speed of website load is an important factor in calculating rankings.

Infinite scrolling can damage a device too. It has possibility of initiating hang on some old devices. And it requires huge memory to process for sure.

We should not use very old devices which are not capable to hug modern features. At least if bookmarking feature is there we can add to favourites or bookmark our interests easily and modern sites and apps usually respect add to fav feature.

How old are you talking about? If it runs out of memory because of infinite scrolling it can't have been made during the last decade.

yeah but still some people face this issue probably whose device has no space full of aps and games. I've seen tons of time restarting a device repeatedly and this is dangerous situation where you need to do something and time runs out and miss a reputation (like online feedback or quick btc deal where other party will treat me as scammer for not being replied). But most device and situations are fine enough with infinite scroll.

Storage and RAM are not the same things. Having little storage left because there are many apps installed on the device won't significantly affect the RAM usage unless the apps run in the background. If infinite scroll causes issues with the RAM, there won't be possible to do a lot on the device. Definitely not play games.

With a faster device infinite scroll is quite a nice feature. Still I think small page sites are relatively better for SEO than going for infinite scrolling.
