In freelancing such as Upwork or Freelancer.com, there are jobs which we call at an hourly rate and fixed rate. I do believe both has advantages and disadvantages. However, I want to know which will work better. I am skeptical to accept some jobs by hourly rate because I am busy.
Which do you guys prefer? Hourly rate or fixed rate?

Yes I am into denying captcha jobs, data entry and scraping jobs. Though they may pay more. But it takes a lot of time for thosse projects to complete. And earning is as low as 5$ so it is really bad. You have to consider that in case of better skills you have to bid for better price. And such practice takes time. Hourly rate is good but in most of the sites you may not earn that high with the freelancing sites out there.

I really need some help to make money on fiverr, any advise?
I heard a lot about this website but I am not on that, I guess its quite similar like Spare5 is. I think you should try freelancing as it's the best way to earn online and if you opt for hourly rate than that would be great as you will be paid well for your labor.

This will entirely depend on what kind of a job are you doing.
If a client asks you to write 500 words in 30 minutes, seeks quality etc. but pays a measly sum... don't do it.
If he asks you to work something that is entirely time dependent, then go for an hourly sum.
Always calculate your own benefit first.

5oo words usually get paid very low if you ask me. I have seen people paying 20 cents for such tasks. So it can be really bad. I won't consider such type of sites for the hourly payment though. article writing is very saturated market. And one has to be really cautious in that case. I prefer to be in niche which has some stable earning model. That way it would pay reasonable hourly rate for work.

Friend, it is not the same as Spare5. It is like freelancing, but the payment is $5. You have to start a gig which you sell.
Ok. Fiverr is freelancing. I created gigs and still have some saved in drafts but haven't gotten any sale
It is not easy to earn there. I actually never got a gig there. I think you should try forum posting.

500 words for 20 cents? That amount is for peanuts. It's like an insult to your skills when given such rate.

Yes you can check that thread from raaman on FC where 200 words article has 20 FC rate. So that's low. But yeah whatever works. I think it depends on how much desperate you are. You have to adjust with that rate. I would do such low paid tasks if I don't have any online work to do.

ok

ok thanks for the advise

Any tips on how to start working as a freelancer online? I know it will be tough for newbies now because most employers are looking for tenured freelancers. I want to try some article writing and also a virtual assistant but I don't know how to start.

Oh yeah! I will not buy that rate. In fact, I can earn a better amount on Forum Coin than that 20 cents for a 200 words article. At least what I write on Forum Coin was according to what I really think.

For me I would prefer the fixed rate as it will make me feel secure and with time I can increase the rate.
Yes. And you don't have to rush whatever would be you earnings. Unlike with hourly rate which you are required to work a number of hours a week or even a month.

I will go for the high paying hourly rate because of the time alotted one has to work hard and quickly to meet the specified time. You can't be accepting low pay for a job that takes just few hours that means you left every other thing to focus on a not so worthwhile offer.

I think you're doing very good on steem. so you can see that some of the time the hourly and paid per fixed project. that needs to understand that we have to take into understand. that's the thing we can see there.

It depends which has more advantages to you.You have to make quick math which is better for you,to be paid per hour or fixed rate.It depends though on your client too...Personally I would prefer the fixed rate payment mode.

Certainly, putting the two in a scale and weighing the option of which favours you more is the best thing to do,I also believe the nature of the job and the kind of client also determine which is a better option.I will only work with what is best for me.

I think hourly freelancing is reduced. and there does not seem to be those type of the jobs.and it means things can be really harder too. And on that note I'd say that freealncing indeed makes it hard.

Seriously I think making money is becoming harder by thr day,Alot of sites are changing their sites from what it used to be to more stringent measures making it more cumbersome to earn well enough daily let alone hourly. One need to do more work now to meet up now

If you can't go rate per word, I think fixed rate is better than hourly. But then it might depend on the deal. Hourly might be a little tedious but if you are flexible enough, you can go for it.
