If you want to go on web development then - HTML,CSS and Javascript seems to be a good option. And if you wish to do desktop development then you should use Java and C# and if you want you can also use VB.Net too. So depending on which language you want to use for the projects. Things will change considerably. That's for sure.Hello house
I'm a student and i want to learn programming.
Which language should i start with?
I have little knowledge about HTML.
I don't really have something in mind right now.Tell us more what you want to achieve and we can help more accurate. Because you can learn dozens different languages to make one thing
I don't really have something in mind right now.
But what do you think?
Software develolment and web development which is more lucrative?
Wow!!!As said @Justice, they are both lucrative, but it is a bit of risky to run after $$$ if you don't like what you are going to do. Every second having pain in arse doing some kind of programming will not lead you to far, because you need constant selflearning to be relevant, you demotivation will stop you be productive and so on.
So it's heavily depends on you characteristics(@Blende):
There is many different jobs in IT: helpdesk, it-support(ink changer in printer), analysers, managers.
- what do you like usually to do with high entuziasm? (like talking with ppl, like making something new or use already existed things, any activity that not making you to drop after doing it 2,4,10 hours in one row [sleeping is not considered as activity ])
- then how you are doing it, do you need some angry alien :Vamp: to hold his strange instrument near some your body parts to make you work or you can easily be left alone with it and you will do it successfully and find new things to do
- you need good motivation, to push you not to "party" in all spare time, but use it to grow your skills, but don't overdo it, because rest is needed and try to buy yourself some kind of reward after you finished or made big step in some direction, it will motivate you!
- and so on...
But if you wanna really get in coding, try to find project what to do, cuz it will help you see your progress and with typing you will get better understand than using only video/book to read.
- Make website and host it on free hosting services like this or search forum there was topic about it, to get feel of making sites, you would need only html to make simple site and later you can dive in others CSS, JavaScript to make them shine
- For software development it's harder a bit, cuz you need some goal in mind, like what platform (pc, android, ios, linux or hell know what will spawn new in near future[like virtualreality, but more accessable to usual humans not gamers/https://www.beermoneyforum.com/ only ]) you wanna pick or you wanna learn to make it work on all things that have CPU , are you going for game/finance/video/audio/justSomeApp coding, where is dozens of old/mature/new/silly languages, like:
OMGROFL!! language
lol iz 1 ( lol = 1 )
wtf lol iz liek 1 ( if lol == 1 )
rofl lol ( print lol)
lmao lol ( lol++)
brb ( end of if statement )
!If you don't have any goals and wanna just learn to get started, try Java, cuz it can be used in web and soft development!
All what was typed is my opinion, you can listen it or can walk just past it and i don't have any responsibilety for that alien
You need to come up with some reason. You can't just get into code just like that. You can look on internet for some of the project inspiration.I have done that plenty of times and managed to come up with some specific small projects which suits my case. You should look at the apps stores for inspiration in that case. And you'd get idea how to go ahead from there.I don't really have something in mind right now.
But what do you think?

Wow thanksGood luck @Blende
A small/tiny note, there is usually a "hard crap" with learning new stuff (language, framework or extension) in coding.
Explanation:
The main caution is that find your gold center(not possible to find ) and when you feel that you can go ahead take the risk, you can always go a bit back to learn more and rush in with new force
- there is no seperation, where you can see that you know enought to move to next topic (ex. where is line that your html understanding allow you to move in css), it can take years to master html fully, but you can get using it in 1st day and be good at it and you will never need to fully master it
- you don't need to learn new stuff - you do it with manual/documentation having some expirence with other similar stuff and that is enought and later maybe will dig deeply in, if need some more power
- you can later go more easily over to others languages that are similar in ideology, like CSS->SASS, Java<->C#
- you can learn by stack, like html+css is usually tutorialed together or someone teach html+css+javascript in one course, there is no hard walls how exactly you must learn it
I'm grateful for all your advice.You need to come up with some reason. You can't just get into code just like that.
