When the lock downs begun I was working in sales. You know the deal - minimal wage plus a commission, but since there were so few customers I was not making enough money to cover my basic expenses.
My anxiety went trough the roof and at one point I thought, I would have to move back with my parents. Not that it's the worst thing on the planet, but if you are a guy in his 20s living mommy and daddy is not a dream situation.
At that time all I did is complained about my situation, which didn't exactly make me very popular with other people.
However a friend took pity on me and invited me to join a team play poker chat room he was in. I told him that I don't even know how to play poker, but he convinced me to give it a try. Team play is when couple of people sit on a table and share with each other what cards they have, and they play as a team against the rest of the players on the table.
I was doing pretty well, but the summer came and many of the restrictions got lifted and my regular job picked up. Standing on your feet 8 hours a day trying to sell a person something that they probably don't want and most likely don't need is a joyless existence. On top of that I started making more money from the poker than my ""real"" job. So last October I decided to quit and just play poker.
To be honest I've never been more happy in my life. I feel free and in control for the first time. I just wanted to vent a little and share my experience(maybe brag a little).
If you have any questions leave them in the comments bellow and I will try to answer to the best of my abilities.

I quit my job to play online poker

Quitting your job to play online poker full-time can be a risky decision, as it's not guaranteed to be a sustainable source of income. Here are a few things to consider before making such a decision:

  1. Income stability: Online poker can be a volatile source of income, and there's always the risk of losing money. It's important to have a backup plan or savings in case your poker income is not consistent.
  2. Skill level: Your ability to make money from online poker will depend on your skill level. If you're not already an experienced and winning player, it's important to be realistic about your chances of success.
  3. Time commitment: Playing online poker full-time...
I have also tried playing online poker numerous time but i am always on the loosing end and thats the main reason why i stopped because I don't want to be addicted to gambling of any form , I have seen what addiction to gambling does to people out there.

I believe that gambling can never actually make anyone a winner. In the end, no matter how expert gambler you are, you may end up losing every thing. it is far much better to work hard rather than gamble your money. Instead of gambling, it is much better to start your own business. This is because you have a high chance of succeeding as a businessman.

Yeah , but starting own businesses may have many constraints or initial investment issues for many people. So trading can be a good way to make money , which is much profitable than gambling and involves more of a strategy and knowledge unlike the gambling that is relying only on the luck factor.

I don't it is a very wise idea to quit a job for any online poker or casino gambling. I may not the condition that led you to quitting your job but I don't think that is the best options for you. Gambling can be a risky game no matter how professional you maybe. I have tried sports betting some time in the past and I know sports betting can never be my source of income..

You really made the right decision, and considering how long you will stand attending to people, and at the you are not happy. Anything you are doing in life provided it is legitimate and its paying you well, you should stick to it at least your happy. Anything you study in life without using it to make money is nothing.

You are right it involves a big risk and people that do it actually experience the thing of addiction at some stage which is bad and the connections with other people are broken so if the person breaks the chain of gambling them he succeeds brightly again that's what i can say actually
Gambling or betting involve a very high level of risk, and some person leaving his paid job where his wage is guaranteed to gambling or betting where he is not sure of making a single win is highly not advisable. Maybe he is addicted to gambling and there is no way he could separate himself from such...

It is not normal for someone to quit his job or business for online poker. If he is addicted to gambling, who says he can not work and as well engage in his gambling business if he chooses. Probably he is highly addicted to gambling business and there is nothing else he could afford to do..

The only way he can overcome gambling permanently is by attending himself to the gambling psychologist or by calling gambling helpline. It also depends on the extent of the gambling addiction of a person , if the addiction is low , he can overcome on his own , by doing right practices or by blocking all the gambling sites and focusing on legit money making schemes or jobs.

It is much more difficult to break some addiction really, such a person actually need some help. I will quit my paying job for any online poker gambling no matter how much I am being offered to do so. But life has different choices for every individuals, it depends on you to make the right decision..

To me I would not have advise you to quit your job just because you are making lots of profits from playing casino. Betting is just a game of luck. You might be lucky for now but you don't know what will happen tomorrow.
It once happened to me as I was winning my beets and I have required lots of money. But it happened one day that I lost all my investment which leads to me looking for ways to make money to pays for my daily bills.
You can continue with your work. And what you earn with bettings, you can use it to start a business. Then you can quit your job.

Yeah , that's true. It depends on individuals status and interest as well. But the job is also required to survive , one can't depend entirely on online gambling like poker , except for some professional gamblers though. Paying job will make sure , we will have something at least in our hands rather than completely getting bankrupt by doing gambling business.

Maybe he has already made his choice to quit his job for online poker. Life is all about choice, he has made his choice and I wish him success in his new line of business. But personally I will not quit my paying job for any online gambling am not sure that will be of any benefits to me. Gambling is all about risk and luck....

For real? This is so brave of you. But if I may ask, what advantage have you gained from the poker game? Also, how much is it likely for you to earn per day? I'm sorry for those questions but I need to ask so you'd be able to give me a tangible reason why you left your work for a poker game. And I'm very sure you're earning well from it now. Right?

I do agree with you, some gamblers are really determininstic about what they are doing and they are really serious on making money entirely out of gambling. I know a professional gambler 'Drake' who is making millions out of gambling , he does a lose money as well , but it's the experience that gets him to the profit zone again and again.

I doesn't really matter how much he is earning from the online poker gambling, but he should also be bold to say how much he has lost to gambling. I will not advice anyone to take gambling as a full time job. But if you must do, you have to gamble responsibly and also gamble what you would afford to loose...

This is very brave because I wonder who could have made you to quit your job to play the poker but now let me ask you something are you really learning from the poker now or you are not earning much and I think since it is not something that is sure I think it is not good as you were able to quit your job for the work I wish you good luck
I just from the onset it was never a wise decision for you to leave your daily paying job for gambling you called poker. I know that soon you might like to go back to your former job. We would like to know how profitable this poker business is. Is it better than your daily paying job?

Imagine leaving your daily paying job just because you took interest in playing online poker's game , if you have your job and you are loosing on the game , you will be balancing yourself with your salary atop the end of the month, but this decision can wreck your life.

There are professional online gambler that took interest in gambling as their daily job and they are making it , but they decided to focus mainly on gambling becasue of unemployment, they didn't quit the job that will be giving them money monthly to focus on gambling.

This sounds terrible. How much you are winning from poker to perfer it than 8 hours offline work, $600 in my opinion will be enough to quit the job, but I dont think you can actually make so much just by gambling and specifically doing poker. It is too risky and not stable profit.

I think It Is Not Good Idea. It is Good If You get More Money and Happiness From Gambling. But It Is Very Difficult to Make Stable.Gambling Result Is Not Same All the Time.I Think It is Very Difficult to Get Stable Income From Gambling.May Be Some People Is There But I think Losers Are More Than That of Gainers In Gambling.SoI think Its Not Good Idea.Anyway I Hope It Will Work Properly For You

It is very irresponsible of anyone to quit his paying job for any online casino or poker.
I want to ask this question, people who gamble, are they really responsible people?

I don't see myself toeing the same path with this man. I will not quit any of my paying job for gambling....
