When the lock downs begun I was working in sales. You know the deal - minimal wage plus a commission, but since there were so few customers I was not making enough money to cover my basic expenses.
My anxiety went trough the roof and at one point I thought, I would have to move back with my parents. Not that it's the worst thing on the planet, but if you are a guy in his 20s living mommy and daddy is not a dream situation.
At that time all I did is complained about my situation, which didn't exactly make me very popular with other people.
However a friend took pity on me and invited me to join a team play poker chat room he was in. I told him that I don't even know how to play poker, but he convinced me to give it a try. Team play is when couple of people sit on a table and share with each other what cards they have, and they play as a team against the rest of the players on the table.
I was doing pretty well, but the summer came and many of the restrictions got lifted and my regular job picked up. Standing on your feet 8 hours a day trying to sell a person something that they probably don't want and most likely don't need is a joyless existence. On top of that I started making more money from the poker than my ""real"" job. So last October I decided to quit and just play poker.
To be honest I've never been more happy in my life. I feel free and in control for the first time. I just wanted to vent a little and share my experience(maybe brag a little).
If you have any questions leave them in the comments bellow and I will try to answer to the best of my abilities.

I quit my job to play online poker

Quitting your job to play online poker full-time can be a risky decision, as it's not guaranteed to be a sustainable source of income. Here are a few things to consider before making such a decision:

  1. Income stability: Online poker can be a volatile source of income, and there's always the risk of losing money. It's important to have a backup plan or savings in case your poker income is not consistent.
  2. Skill level: Your ability to make money from online poker will depend on your skill level. If you're not already an experienced and winning player, it's important to be realistic about your chances of success.
  3. Time commitment: Playing online poker full-time...

I agree with your point that good earners use tricks so perfectly that they did not get caught, but are you among them?
You are using some trick and never got caught?
So are you planning to train us?

no im not. im just answering people who have asked me something. there is an easy solution, thats the last you will hear from me here. good luck. vete hacer mamadas en sitges, marcon.

Playing online poker is very tempting. Once a person starts to spend his money and play online poker and the person wins his first games, they will be tempted to okay more even if he starts to lose his money. There is this spirit that do push people to continue, telling them that they almost win so they should try again. The best thing to be free with poker is never to okay it.

If you're happy and you're winning then I guess it's okay. But don't get eaten by the desire to win every lost bets and don't be greedy. Don't treat it as your full time job. Get out while you're still winning, because once you get eaten by gambling you will regret the choices that you made.

That's cool, provided you have the skills and that you are overconfident to quit ypur job. A good strategy would give you money over the long run.

I also play poker online, from what he said is very feasible (teaming with friend on one table)

but, this kind of behaviour is very noticeable (from my experience, i'ts only applicable on big blinds)

one of the indication of team play is the obvious raise and re-raise (been a victim of that strategy)

on a small blind, in my opinion people really dont care about team play and bluff

Ok is absolutely no doubt that there are some people who have been playing poker and is very successful to the extent that it has become their source of livelihood. This is something that I am not just going to advise anybody to quit his job in order to focus on the things that you can be able to do it as a side hustle pending when you are going to make it big.

Mixed Opinions And I Would Also Say That Your Choice Was Wrong You Never Should Have Dropped off your job but if things worked out for you still you should keep doing your job or invest into have another source of income to be honest actually in my opinion .

the fact of the matter remains that quitting your day job and becoming a gambler is not only a bad decision rather it is also a really bad thing because i believe that gambling is a bad thing that could lead to addiction. i really do not know why someone would leave their job and prefer gambling when gambling involves huge risk?

I don't know and I can't figure out why you should quit your job and become a full time gambler. I hope you made a right decision for your self and family. But I did not see the reason you gave for quitting your job. Personally I would not quit my paying job and become a full time gambler, rather I will start my own business and be my own boss..

dont listen to all the nee sayers & negative comments, regarding playing poker as a way to earn money. if its working for you & you are making a living from it, more power to you !!!!! obviously, you know that you can lose at times. 1 way to be successful at anything, is to control your loses & maximize you winnings.

just make sure you play in such a way that people or the poker site doesnt catch on that you are team playing. besides that, stack the cards in your favor & go for it !!!!!!

That mean he's an addicted gambler , because theres no perfect definition for someone that leave his place of earning his daily bread and started gambling as a full time work, you will get salary at the end of the month while working but with gambling , you can loose everything,

Before I can do such a thing in my own opinion , it only when I have the mkney to start my own betting shop where customers/gamblers can frequents and I will be making money everyday and not leaving my job to start gambling as a real life profession.

I will not quit my daily paying job for any casino games or gambling. It makes no sense for any one that is gainfully employed to abandoned his duties to participate in casino gambling, except if he is not really happy with the kind of job he is doing at the particular time. Gambling is usually based on luck and it is very risky to learn from them...

I don't know how regular income from playing Poker online is possible. I have tried it a few times but have always come out on the losing side.

Maybe if OP can tell us which site and strategies he uses, it would be much helpful.

there have been quite a few people who have become professional poker players, who had started by playing in their free time on the internet. it doesnt mean that everybody who plays online poker will win or become professional, but if your good, you have a chance. the competition is fierce to say the least. there are a lot of wanna be professional poker players. then you have the different styles of poker to master. playing poker in competitions is a lot different than playing with your mates or in a casino, just for fun. it takes money & dedication plus time. but i sincerely wish you & anybody good luck. if you dont try you will never know, thats a fact, jack !!!!!!

There are many people who are addicted to gambling, but I have never seen anyone quitting their day job to become a full-time gambler. Majority of the full time gamblers are unemployed and they opt to become a full-time gambler in the end. However, in the end they end up getting addicted to gambling and they start realizing their mistake.

Quitting a well paying job that gives you the opportunity of making something atbthe end of every month for gambling that will always takes money from them everyday without the surest way of returning the money to you is far more than addiction to me.

I have also tried playing online poker numerous time but i am always on the loosing end and thats the main reason why i stopped because I don't want to be addicted to gambling of any form , I have seen what addiction to gambling does to people out there.
