When the lock downs begun I was working in sales. You know the deal - minimal wage plus a commission, but since there were so few customers I was not making enough money to cover my basic expenses.
My anxiety went trough the roof and at one point I thought, I would have to move back with my parents. Not that it's the worst thing on the planet, but if you are a guy in his 20s living mommy and daddy is not a dream situation.
At that time all I did is complained about my situation, which didn't exactly make me very popular with other people.
However a friend took pity on me and invited me to join a team play poker chat room he was in. I told him that I don't even know how to play poker, but he convinced me to give it a try. Team play is when couple of people sit on a table and share with each other what cards they have, and they play as a team against the rest of the players on the table.
I was doing pretty well, but the summer came and many of the restrictions got lifted and my regular job picked up. Standing on your feet 8 hours a day trying to sell a person something that they probably don't want and most likely don't need is a joyless existence. On top of that I started making more money from the poker than my ""real"" job. So last October I decided to quit and just play poker.
To be honest I've never been more happy in my life. I feel free and in control for the first time. I just wanted to vent a little and share my experience(maybe brag a little).
If you have any questions leave them in the comments bellow and I will try to answer to the best of my abilities.

I quit my job to play online poker

Quitting your job to play online poker full-time can be a risky decision, as it's not guaranteed to be a sustainable source of income. Here are a few things to consider before making such a decision:

  1. Income stability: Online poker can be a volatile source of income, and there's always the risk of losing money. It's important to have a backup plan or savings in case your poker income is not consistent.
  2. Skill level: Your ability to make money from online poker will depend on your skill level. If you're not already an experienced and winning player, it's important to be realistic about your chances of success.
  3. Time commitment: Playing online poker full-time...
I read it on one of the replies here that someone could make a way around it and end up winning huge on online poker games. I am yet to believe it too. I was just checking in, if you have an idea about this. I will check it out online though
I advise you not to do it, if the page tells you that you can use VPN, use it if you want, but if they clarify that you should not use it, better do not do it because they will ban you for sure, and therefore you will lose the money you put there

I will take your advice then. I am on my way to even learn the basics of the game before even considering whether to use VPN or not. I am sure that I will do well after learning what needs to be learned about poker game.

that is, try to learn everything you can before playing, there are many sites to play poker without the need for money, just for fun, there you can learn to play since you play with other people, but you will lack that spark of competitiveness that there is when money is at stake.

Hahaha, people don't really know what casino and poker games are. They think it's as easy as the way it's presented in ads, movies or editorial. Poker is a form of gambling where most people lose for a few to win.
Two things warn me about gambling.

1 - I stood next to a friend as he lost a month's salary in a few hours. We were at Saint Vincent Casino to have some fun.

2 - The story of a person I know - who I have always considered rational - become ludopathic. He was persecuted and beaten several times by people who had lent him money to play.

One needs to experience this personally to know the devastating effect of gambling. Most people here think casino or poker is easy because they're good with arithmetic. They should know that games are programmed to bring profit to bookies.

It may be because many of them were never in the game, I was and I would never return to it, it made me lose a lot of money that if I had invested in things that I invest in today I would have done much better, but hey, what's done is done , these people need to try the game to know how harmful it can be, that is if it is done with caution and for fun, everything is fine

Yes that's the point. I was affected as well. We can take the resolution because we've experienced the bad effects of gambling. So it'll be necessary for some people to experience such before they'll agree that gambling is bad.

Exactly, those people who have not yet experienced the harmful effects of gambling will believe that they can win with it or the same will not happen to them, when we have been there for a while we will see what they say about of gambling

There's a big gambling place in my region, many of them actually. You need to see what's happening there and how gambling has wrecked a lot of people. People promoting it don't tell us it's just few people winning.

In my country gambling is also very widespread and nothing is really done about it, mainly because I think that governments profit a lot from the gambling industry and therefore from the addiction of the gamblers

even in some countries the government are really less interested in how addicted the gamblers are , they probably are just more focused on the profit they gain from it ,so they are less concerned if the gamblers are too addicted and others and that's not good

Exactly the government will always be interested in how much they earn from an activity more than if it is harmful or not, if they are interested they will let it run its course and if they can they will encourage more people to join, whether or not this is addictive is not really relevant for them

They know how much revenue they gain from taxing the users that are adducted to gambling ,so they would not do anything to stop or caution the addiction ,their focus is to make gains and nothing more that's the thing there

Nothing is impossible in life though you may not see the possibility. I don't gambling and I will not try it no matter how profitable it can be. First, I don't know how to play poker. Secondly, I don't like anything that is related to gambling and betting.

Exactly and it will always work like this, here the state lotteries are almost what has the most publicity throughout the year, in the end they want to induce you to play by whatever means, it is simply crazy

That is great for you. By not liking gambling or betting, you have removed yourself from high risks that could lead you to loss. It is also great not to start doing something that you don't know how to do. You cannot get into poker and hope to win if you don't know how to play.
