HubPages Review.jpg

HubPages is a site that offers a freelance writer a chance to create a blog or weblog for free. On the site, you can earn money through their revenue sharing program or any affiliate accounts you have. Furthermore, you can join Google AdSense and ad the code to your sub-domain to earn money through this program. The site also has their own ad sharing program you can join to increase your earnings from your weblog. The site has a revenue sharing program that they split with you 60/40. This means that 60% of the time your ads are shown on your personal weblog and their 40% of the time the site will share their ads on your weblog. This is a good site to join as a new freelance writer, a video publisher, or even create different polls and quizzes for people to interact with. The site has been online since 2006 and is a well-established site that has thousands of site visitors each day. You are sure to earn some money from this site if you stick with it long enough and write different hub posts for your weblog.

How Does It Work?
  • You'll need to join the site and create your account. The site requires that you create a username. When choosing your username, choose it carefully because the username you choose will be your weblog name.
  • There are many sub-domains on the site and each sub-domain is the username the person selected when they joined the site. Therefore, you want to create a review weblog, you should choose a unique username to use.
  • Once you have all this setup, it is easy to add a hub to your sub-domain. The hub is the blog post that you create on the site and add to your weblog.
  • When creating your post you'll be using a capsule to create your hub with. There are many different types of capsules that you can choose from. If you're writing a review, you'll select a text capsule to use. However, if you want to post a video you've created, you'll choose a video capsule to use.
  • Once you're done adding your image, title, and test the hub can be published on your weblog.
  • Now you can share this with your friends or anyone on your social media account.
  • If you want, you can write as many weblogs that you wish for your account. Normally, most of the bloggers on this site will write around 15 a month. This gives your post time to be found and people to read it and interact with it.
How To Earn:
  • You can create a Google AdSense account and add the links to your hub pages or your weblog. The ads from this will be displayed on your pages 60% of the time. You'll earn money from the impressions that you get when your ads are displayed.
  • You can join some affiliate programs and write reviews. You'll earn 100% from your affiliate links that you embed in your reviews.
  • You can also join the site's revenue sharing program and share the revenue from the ads the site posts on your hub.
  • Join in the contest and earn money for writing about a specific topic the site selects. This is a great way to increase your revenue on the site if you win the contest.
  • There is a referral program that you can join. You can add your referral links to other hubs and share them. If a person visits this hub, you'll earn 10% of the impressions during the time the person is on the site.
  • As long as you keep your account open and the posts in your account, you will continue to earn money from the impressions that you receive when a person visit your pages.
Payment:

Each month on the 28th, the site sends your earnings to your PayPal account. You must have PayPal in order to be paid by the site.

Who has an account on HubPages and how do you like it?

Hubpages used to be a very good and paying website early on but I'm not sure about it now. Haven't heard about it from a long time and no payment proof
The site changed several years back the way you earn. You now have to join a few of the site's affiliate programs and you'll earn this way. So basically, if you don't have too many site views and people don't click on the ads you don't earn much at all from them.

I will try to join again and see how it goes for me and hope to earn
Basically, you'll need to join some of the site's affiliate programs they have. These will be on your pages that you write and hopefully people will visit the pages so you can earn from them.

I am not much active these days. But it'd be helpful if I cna get active and start writing some regular articles. I am sure I'd be able to see some more earnings in due time.

Are there any posting limits on hubpages or we can post and earn anytime? Do we need required views to earn?

If you'd like to join it is a good idea to go there and check it out first. I'd read the FAQ section of the site to see how it really works and if you can actually earn from writing on there. Just keep in mind you'll only earn if people read what you've written. It is a revenue sharing site now.

All article sites require views to make revenue for themselves; and Hubpages will only share a part of revenue that it will earn from your article; so create articles that will attract readers.

You are so right on this one. This is a good opportunity to get stated and find your niche in writing. If you can do this then create a blog site. Use your knowledge you gain here to add the advertising on your site and earn all the revenue each month.

No limit to what you can post or write, just write original and unique articles to post that will attract good views per day and join the affiliate program that the site has to offer like Amazon Afflilate, then continue to update your page daily with good articles.

This is looking interesting! I guess you have to be good at getting traffic ? And writing good articles, as @Awan Cheyanne has advised i will look into it, am not sure the discussion thread is explaining well enough.

HubPages has been around for a number of years. They ended up closing down the registration section for a few years to clean up the site. They had a lot of people who joined and scammed the site out of money. When they opened up again the writers were no longer paid by what they contributed. They decided to make this as a ad earning site where they share revenues with each writer. This stopped the problems and got rid of the people who weren't serious about writing on the site. Now you must join some of the company's affiliate programs and use this on your own personal blog withing the system. You are now the one who has to try and promote your work and have people come there. You are only paid on what you can do for yourself now.

I heard many scams associated with hub pages also and that's why we cannot just join this website soon

I have not joined Hub pages. But I do visit and read articles that are interesting to me.I have observed that you need to get many views to earn. Also,I come across, many of the writers editing and updating their old articles. If you write an article and sit back, you do not earn. One needs to read the articles of other writers and comment on them.Only then will others come and read your writings. It seems really hard work.

You are right. This is a self promoting website that makes you earn the money yourself. They are not going to work for you, but the other way around. You are working for them because remember you are in a revenue share on this site and they take a percentage of the money you earn through their affiliate programs.

Hubpages is a good start for anyone who is interested in writing. And the thing is that there are lot of people who are getting regular into the writing articles. But the thing is that the success with hubpages is not something we can rely on for paycheck.

I personally don't mind writing for sites like HubPages, but I find that I can use my time more wisely to earn an income. I'd rather write for a few tech sites that pay me right away, plus there are eBooks that you can earn on, and OC your own site. I would rather wire for my own site and build up my site, this way I can add the AdSense on my own account and make all the money and not have to share it with others.

Hubpages new sites are working good it seems. I have learned that some of the time it may take time but overall I am guessing it's kind of hit and miss with the traffic. So I don't want to much rely on them to be honest. it's kind fo painful erning there.

Like all kinds of revenue sharing sites, you must drive traffic to your work. This is time consuming and can take a lot of patience to do tis one. However, it can be done. Then on the flip side, if you want to do this, then why not drive traffic to your own website or blog. This way your efforts are spent on yourself and not earning another person money.

You earn 60% of the revenue shaare. and there seems to be a lot good traffic they have got. and even better. I have seen some really good earning from the members. All you have to do is make sure you have 1000 words or more content there.

You are so right on this one. The major problem I see here on this site is people don't actually like to write 1000 words. They seem to find it difficult to write even 200 words at times. I don't find it that hard to write a good paper with 800 to 1200 word count on it. This basically is your subject, how you lay it out, and what you want people to learn from you in the end.
