What is Bitcoin?

I remember the first time I researched BTC mining on a PC was a year back and already it was a saturated and competitive market to enter (I missed the mining bus as they call it). One thing for sure, was that I didn't have the tech savvy to build something mining-worthy, and not just an elaborate room heater. Electricity isn't exactly cheap where I live either, due to excessive taxation.

Cloud mining certainly seems to have some perks, you meddle with less hardware, you get less senseless heat from the computer and there's a lower electricity usage.

But it's not all flowers and sunshine, most cryptocurrency mining sites are complete ponzi schemes (they pay the earlier investors with money from the newer ones).

Legit sites also have a thing called maintenance and electricity fees ("MEF"), which adds up as expense on your otherwise flawless plan of gaining profit in the span of 6 months. Another thing is that mining difficulty increases as more cryptocurrency is mined and there's a huge variation in the balance of cryptocurrency making frequent re-calculations of your "plan" necessary to avoid going into negative profit.

Has anyone successfully seen any profit from Cloud mining? Even small sum stories, I'd like to hear the experience.

No because it take too long to make a profit if you are able to make a profit ,the equipment are too expensive and the high electricity cost.

I have not yet tried the bitcoin mining pool. I heard there are some cloud mining services out there. And one can earn good from them. Not sure if the return of investment out of such places is good or bad. But considering the price of the bitcoin. I am sure it is kind of worth it.

How slow does your earning like? Do you have to open the mining page 24/7? I heard the mining activity is very electricity consuming, meant it might not worth it if the earning is too slow.

I see there are many bitcoin mining pools, what's their purpose in mining bitcoins?

If someone could explain I'd be very grateful. Share the pros and cons if any! ;)
Im not sure, but from the word itself it's a pool of miners that mines bitcoins. Then you will divide the earnings by percentage. It depend on how many blocks you mined. And it has .bat file to fill up all your details. I really want to learn how to do it but I dont have high specs of pc to start it :(

@Mr. B
I have seen on bitcointalk forums as people are telling it consumes huge electricity and the bill is more high.
Can you tell me how your PC makes money? Is this works like a server?

Rarely play games now because I'm too damn busy. :(

How can i earn with my laptop is it applicable to use for mining bitcoins?
I believe mining bitcoins with a laptop and be profitable is pretty hard, first of all, your laptop must have high-end GPU, but still, you will face problems with overheat after couple hours of mining. I believe the laptop will be destroyed due to mining soon.

I'd say if you have some dying machine or spare machine, only use that. I have found that some of the miner softwares take lot of resource. So better not to use your work machines. I have used it on some of the spare machines in office. And lot of resources being taken by them. And that can be bad if you know working machines being used. Better to be safe and use some old hardware, it may take time to mine but it won't hurt your current machines due to mining software takign all resources.
