When we talk about search engine optimization, we are actually talking about a variety of different tricks you can use to help rank your website pages with different search engines. These techniques will also help to increase the number of visitors to your website.

It is important to understand SEO and how it helps the search engine to understand each of your website pages. Furthermore, this is very useful to anyone who is looking for some information online and lands on your pages. So if you are new to building a website and ranking your site in Google, it will be necessary for you to read on.

On-Page SEO

First off we have on-page SEO which is used to optimize the pages on your website. In on-page SEO you'll need to be concerned with the following aspects of your site pages. If you a look on the forum there is an excellent tutorial that will go into complete detail about On-Page SEO and what you need to know and do on your website. So in this tutorial, I'll be skipping this section and will refer you to the tutorial that is already here on the forum to read. Let us move on to the next important aspect of SEO and what you need to do to improve your ranking in Google.

Off Page SEO

Off Page, SEO is a lot more than just link building for your website. It goes much deeper than this and there are many techniques you can use to improve your Off-Page SEO.

High-Quality Backlinks: When you work on backlink building it is important to build the best high-quality backlinks for your site. This is one of the hardest aspects of SEO, but it is one of the most critical. Without high-quality backlinks, your site can't rank for competitive high traffic keywords.

Broken Links: At times a site will close down or change their URL. If you have linked to a URL that is no longer available, your visitor will be redirected. Therefore, it is necessary to spend time on your website and check all the URL links. Make sure there aren't any broken links on your site.

Skyscraper Technique: This technique was invented by Brian Dean. There are 3 different steps that you'll need to do in order to improve your ranking with search engines.
  • Locate linkable assets that you can use over and over again. According to Brian "Authority is the name of the game".
  • Improve your existing content and make it longer. Make sure you add more keywords to your existing content.
  • Reach out to other website owners in your niche and make contacts. Linking to pages of authority is a great way to rank in search engines.
Guestographic Method:

This is a 5 step method that s great for link building.
  • On your website post a relevant infographic.
  • Now locate sites that are in your niche that write about the same infographics.
  • Contact them and show them your infographics.
  • You should now offer the website owner unique content he can post on his site.
  • In doing so make sure you get your contextual backlinks in return.
Guest Posting:

We know how important it is to guest post on another blog site that is in your niche. Reach out to some site owners in your niche and offer to write a guest post for their site in return for links back to your site.

Blog Commenting:

When you comment on other blogs in your niche this is a great way to show your presence and establish backlinks back to your own site.

Social Media:

It is so important that you are active on the different social media site. This way you can share your links and it makes it easier for people to find your website.

Promoting:

This is one of the best ways for people to know you have a new site online. You can promote your new site on forums in your niche, social media account, and different blogs.

These are the top way to help rank your site with the different search engines.

Do you have any other ways that you use to help promote and rank your brand new website?

I would suggest to join a course on udemy or try reading some books on amazon highly reputable. Spend some time and you will learn the tricks

Thanks for that :) I'll definitely try to look up some easy courses on Udemy and see if I can learn something from there, even if it's just basics. I've already started reading various sites on the subject matter, anyway.

Improve your website's user experience. According to a study on ranking factors by SEMrush, the top four ranking factors are website visits, time on site, pages per session, and bounce rate. All four of those are directly related to the experience your website is providing your users. It's pretty simple: If your website is easy and enjoyable to use and offers valuable information, you'll get more visitors, who will stay longer on your site and visit more pages, and that will improve your search rank

I really want to improve my site and I'm well aware of everything you've said but honestly, I'm clueless as to how exactly to go about it. Beyond driving traffic to the site, ensuring I have catchy headlines, posting regularly, posting quality articles etc I just don't know how to go about improving my bounce rate, getting people to not only stay on the site longer but also navigate it to read more than one article. Do you have any tips? TIA?

Make the visual design sing. Like it or not, people do judge a book by its cover, and if the design of your website doesn't look right, they'll be discouraged from sticking around. ...
Don't bury the lead. ...
Keep text concise. ...
Reduce admin. ...
Update your site regularly. ...
Add value and also add engaging and catchy contents like videos and other stuff

Thank you so much, you're a star ?:Thumbsup: For the most part, we do all those things, so we must be on the right track. We mainly fall down where video content is concerned and interestingly enough, the feedback we receive's always good, but the one thing most of our readers have said is ADD MORE VIDEO CONTENT, especially around culture and my country's holiday hotspots.

Create quality backlinks and update your social media on regular basis to rank your website on google.

I'm a proud blog owner and never seem to stop learning. There's just so much stuff to learn, some of which I think requires me to engage someone with more skills and experience. Recently, I've started to hear a lot about creating quality backlinks helps sites with Google ranking. I'm just not entirely sure what this means and clearly have to look deeper into it and equip myself with the skills to do so for my blog.

Every year SEO rules is being difgereny, so whatever last years was useful to implement to get high rank in Alexa and to be shown as well may not be funtional this year, so you always have to update and search for new points in SEO

Wow, really?! This may show just how clueless I am but I'm just going to put it out there - I honestly didn't know this at all. I suppose it kind of makes sense because trends are ever-evolving. Thanks for sharing ?

Our traffic could do with improving but interestingly, we're doing very well in terms of Google search engine ranking. So that's very interesting to me.

Yes, Google is king, so to speak! And with traffic being such a huge thing, a lot of work has to go into it, obviously. I really like the idea of tagging onto a YouTube influencer to boost our traffic. I already know of one from my country who consistently pulls large numbers. I just hope it isn't too expensive!

Someone here recommended using a YouTube influencer. I'm sorry but I don't remember who it was but I'm eternally grateful to them?? I actually prefer YouTube to Instagram because a lot of our readers have indicated they would love it if we had more video content. Plus, I know a YouTube influencer from my country who has millions of followers I could target.

No problem about that but i know that someone will have to spend a lot to get traffic to his or her blog and its still okay

Oh, I agree with you and that's why I said in our earlier discussion that we already spend a pretty penny on Facebook ads. It doesn't really bother us much because we consider it an investment. But of course, it has to be within our budget.

Like what range do you invest on Facebook ads to get more traffic to your blog and it seems the traffic also helps in terms of search ranking

I'm sorry but I don't understand the question? But I'll try to answer - we spend maybe $50 per month on Facebook ads. So we pick some of our posts that we feel will be popular and spend $10 per article to boost them.

Go ahead and try it - it might work for you! To be honest, I wish we could spend more but I refuse to bankrupt myself ?? We mainly use the money I earn online so we don't use money from our main bank account. And it really does make a big difference when we take out an ad.

I will start with atleast $30 because i once invested in Facebook ads some years ago and the traffic was okay , but it was only used to advertise a page snd not site
