How to prevent your PayPal from being hacked

I think if you stop giving away your paypal on forums and other places. That would be much better and safe way to protect. Only share your paypal mail in private. Also find alternative methods for payment which are secure than paypal like payoneer. Bitcoin is another option. And like this list goes on. So depending on how that works out you have to find what you can see with the more secure payments you dont have to worry much.

You can secure your paypal by adding a card and creating a complex password.
As if someone tried to use forgot password, the PayPal will ask him about the card number.

I agree, verifying your paypal account is one way to get secured. If you yhey dont have the details of the card they it will be hard for them to hack your account. And that complex password works too, not only in paypal but for other payment account.

just consider this, even how complex your passwords you used and even how careful you are by not disclosing your security details as long as you are using online payment processors or other online services that relates to personal money there is always a risk when these companies can any time suspend, froze or even delete your account for some reasons that is why always leave a small amount of cash on any online platforms you are using if in case you wish to use that to purchase online but to leave a huge amount of money is not safe not only against hackers but to the company you entrusted your money with since you are dealing with them online and they are in full control of your money.

always protect your money

It's true, I've read all the comments and I fully agree that one vision is to secure an order and that the card is verified.
I agree that it is not necessary to split the payment processor e-mail wherever it is risky, but there is always prevention, which is a good password password, no. phones and more.

I have been avoiding online jobs that pay with bitcoin only because I feel that selling bitcoins is too much work that I am not ready to get into. Is it possible to transfer bitcoins to bank, PayPal or other ways of withdrawing?

Yes. I also do the same. I dont leave huge amount on my paypal, just as soon as it reach the minimum amount of withrawal, I always withdraw it, then immediately deposit my money to mu bank account that is not linked to my paypal. Leaving huge amount online is risky.

I think it to avoid dropping ones PayPal information on a public form, try to use a PayPal password that is a bit complicated and not leaving huge sums of money online .It not even about hackers alone.one account can be deleted, frozen or limited by this company.

To add on this, not sharing PayPal password and also avoid logging in PayPal account when using a public computer. Make online transactions with online sites that you trust and also make sure to validate the PayPal account.

you can enable 2-factor authentication and by doing this I think it would be pretty difficult for someone to hack your PayPal since you have to enter unique sms-code each time you try to log in.

I have never seen anything like 2 factor authentication in PayPal settings. Can you post a screenshot or give more details on how to set it.

1. Install an anti-virus with internet protection like ESET.
2. Only log-in to paypal.com and nothing else.
3. Don't click any links sent to your email saying that you need to change some infos etc on your paypal account.
Most of the time these are phishing sites which will get your paypal account email and password.
4. Don't give your paypal info to anyone.
5. Don't use the password on your facebook or any other sites in your paypal.
6. If a website ask you to log-in to your paypal account using a link they give you, leave the site immediately
7. In case your paypal account got hacked, terminate or freeze the credit card connected to your paypal immediately
8. If using a shared pc or public pc, use incognito when logging in. This way paypal password will not be save on that pc.

After you log in click Settings /top right icon, next to Log out/
Then click Security, and then - Security key - you can add up to 3 mobile phones which you can use to get a sms-code before each log in. I added 2 numbers just in case I lost one of my phones.

Yes this is bery important because some of the internet cafe are using programs to save and hack the informations of the users. Better be safe than sorry, only log in on your personal gadgets, never on public computer shops.

Paypal is already safe and very secure so i never became hurry about those thing but you can activate 2-factor Authentication
And protect it by not sharing or opening in others divice always singout when not in use plus with strong password ....and nevee hold money on it always withdraw it if possible ......thanx.....

Thank you for this steps. I just saw it and I will make sure to activate the authentication. Although I rarely log in PayPal because I always withdraw from PayPal by logging in my bank online account which is connected to PayPal and withdraw from there. :D It is also a secured method.

It might be better if you use a unique password. The password should different from the password your email use in paypal or password in other sites. Avoid sharing your paypal account in public it is better to transact payment in a private message.

Even a unique password can get hacked. Even if you don't share. Hackers have more knowledge in softwares and can hack any password.

I think adding more layers of protection apart from the password can give someone a peace of mind. :D
