But when I take a look on his website it has barely any visitors since he's bad at marketing and promoting stuff. affiliate marketing(you can also earn money by actions like sign up or free trial, install an app)
adverting(you can try adsterra(high CPM rates)
premium memberships(if your content is good enough you can demand premium membership or upgrade fees)
last but not least use a donation system (many people will donate a personal blog adult site which is good enough)

Placing Google ads, Bing ads and other PPC may be helpful. Most importantly, he should focus on free and organic traffic. It takes time to achieve them but when achieved, it will yield a lot of income. Article writing is one of my favorite method.

I think he should try using Google admob. As long as he has a blog that he writes in, if he inputs google admob, he'll earn money. He'll do it in a way that the ad will show even without people clicking on it. With that, he'll be able to make money from his writing. I hope this helps
