How to keep your crypto assets secured on an exchange.

These are some personal precautions I took so I dont get phished, or hacked on exchanges.

The world of crypto is a wild west, and hacking is easy these days with multiple sites offering tools to do exactly that.
With the tips in this guide, you will make sure you are not an easy target for hackers, and most likely never will get hacked, unless you make a mistake.
Since a lot of exchanges offer passive earnings (Kucoin, Binance, Coxx) for holding their tokens, or coins, you need to keep your accounts secure.

First off, I made sure I set up every security option the exchanges offer.
This is an important step, you want to set up 2fa, password recovery and security questions.
Check below to keep your password, and 2FA safe from hackers and phishers.

For the password I use Keepass.
Keepass is an open source software in which you can encrypt passwords and save them, so you can easily manage your passwords, and create new ones for each site.
It is totally free.
I store the file in a cloud service (wont name which one for my own security) so I can access it on mobile, and my pc.
You can set it up so you need an USB stick to even get to the passwords you saved, basically making you have a physical key (you can make more than one). Play around with it and see what works best for you.
You can also encrypt paper wallets safely, which is pretty sweet.

Others use lastpass, but I am not a fan of using extensions for my passwords.

Secondly, I use a second phone, just for 2FA. This ensures my phone wont get infected with any viruses, or malicious apps. I dont believe google play can scan every app 100% correctly, and I dont want to be the guy where it goes wrong. Make sure to back up the codes of the 2fa app you use. This last step is very important! If you loose the back up codes, you can not reset your google authenticator anymore. Use a trustworthy company to buy your phone from, and check if they offer stock Android, and the latest version.

Also by using a separate pc just for the exchanges, you can make sure you wont get hacked or get a drive by virus from other sites you visit while using the pc for anything not crypto related.

You can pick up a cheap windows 10 tablet these days and hook up a keyboard and mouse. Also enables you to trade while traveling, and in better control than with apps. (multitasking to see where the prices are the cheapest, or most expensive)

If you can not afford that, a factory reset once in a while helps (Windows 10, you can just go to start, type "reset", click first option), while making back ups of your personal files on a separate hard drive. If you are not sure if you have a virus, always do a reset, or use a anti virus (not 100% secure if you use an antivirus, formatting is always better!). You can get a week trial of Antimalwarebytes here. A lot of people recommend this scanner for viruses, and other nasty problems on your pc.

Always manually type the url to an exchange.
DONT bookmark.
NEVER click links in mails
ALWAYS check the site manually.

If a site wants to tell you something you can always see it on their own site.
Bookmarks can be screwed with, mails can be screwed with, and a lot more things. By manually entering the site link in your browser you take good precautions against these attacks.

When making withdrawals, make sure the address is 100% correct, always double check.

Always update your OS when asked, and always update your browser as soon as you can when they have a stable release.

These options are pretty much a must for me, and you should take it into account when holding any assets. This guide isnt just for exchanges, but also for other sites where you keep your funds.
By keeping your funds secure now, you save yourself a costly headache later on!

What I do on my binance app is that I verify any activity on my account through my Gmail and my mobile number so therefore if I want to withdraw I need to receive a code on my Gmail and also my mobile number so with this I think my account is a bit secure. I like that though
