How SAFE is to BUY Online using Credit Card?

I recommend buying online with your credit card via PayPal.com. You can send money to anyone having an PayPal account which is by the way free to register. You can pay and get paid easy, secure and faster.

I think use of credit card online is not safe if there is lack of enough security to prevent any scams. But yes, use of credit card could be safe if the final authorization could be linked to something like an One Time Password (OTP) which is linked to your mobile. I think that is the best thing we can do to ensure security. But as you know without facilities like debit card, credit card and online banking shopping online is almost impossible. Cash on Delivery does not work in all locations. Plastic money is a blessing, but we need to use it judiciously.

This is absolutelu safe. Open a PayPal account and referred your credit card. PayPal has a safety verification facility either the seller is genuine or not. Besides PayPal is providing or following up a refund from the dubious seller.

There's a few ways. You can use paypal as a conduit between your actual credit card and your paypal account, but if paypal decides to let charges remain when they shouldn't, then they can create a hassle for you with that sometimes. One other way to protect your credit card in addition to paypal is to use a virtual credit card number. A lot of credit card companies (citi bank and Discover are two of them that I'm aware of) give you the option to use virtual credit card numbers for transactions. The person you are buying from never has your real credit card number.

This does one of two things:
1) Protects your information from being used online or with cloned cards.
2) Makes it possible for a vendor to do refunds and chargebacks without having access to the original card in case of #1.

I've had issues with my Paypal business account in the past to where they (depending on the transaction and type) wanted a lot of information or wanted to delay the refund in the event that the party selling me a product or service was not legitimate. Usually with virtual credit cards, it is MUCH faster and there is 0 liability and hassles. Paypal is supposed to be that way, but it varies and they take their time doing stuff like that in my experience with it.

That's right, then you could in trouble. I mean if PayPal asks for a refund and there is no fund in your PayPal account. Then they debit it through your credit or debits cards. But I doubt if they will ever do that without your consent or approval. That possibility is quite limited I guess, even though I don't have any such experience with PayPal.

I read somewhere that if you got a negative balance in PayPal they can even employ collection agents to get the money from you. But is that possible in areas where they have no branches or business centers?

Paying with a credit card alone is IMHO safer than using Paypal. Major credit card companies will reimburse you for any loss due to fraud, no matter how negligent you may have been, and within a few hours. You can also cancel and replace the credit card number almost instantaneously. Paypal has a slower and far more uncertain process, and is much more inclined to conclude that "you asked for it". If you have any doubt whatsoever but still want to complete the transaction, use a conventional credit card.

I am always weary of when I put my information out there online, and when it is banking information that nervousness just doubles. I always look at the top of the browser and there is usually a different color or indication that it is a secure network, which I find helpful, but sometimes there is not that little line so I am not sure whether or not I should be worried. It is risky, but almost necessary at this point.

They might not be able to collect the money that they are after if you go negative, but they will put it on your credit report that everyone else uses, and blacklist you from being able to get loans, to rent or buy certain types of things, or get certain types of approval for more important things, like renting an apartment or buying a home in some cases.

They take out insurance on this too, and since they operate in the United States they add the debt that is owed to them to the Federal Reserve via FDIC insurance they carry in addition to any other type of insurance.

So really, they don't lose any money at all when you go negative, they are reimbursed for it, and can write it off at the same time. The only person who loses is the person who goes negative, and the citizens under that Federal Reserve bank that must pay back what others have lost when it gets added to the national deficit on what they say the people owe to the state or federal governments, and what those governments may owe to any other foreign government they borrow from short or long term.

The kicker is that once they are reimbursed for a debt that is passed off to the public, they are making 300% profit off of it: 1st time: Tax write-off as a loss. 2nd time: FDIC reimbursement at 100% (passed off onto the public), and 3rd time (if you pay it back) from the individual paying them part of what was owed through a 3rd party they subcontract to as a bill collector to get it for them, or 100% if they do the collections themselves in-house. It's a racket that lets them make 3x anything you ever borrowed from them, and that's not even including fractional lending from the FDIC to them in the first place (to where they only have to pay back 33 cents on the dollar if they borrow direct from the fed and the debt is not being passed off onto the citizens).

The only ones who get screwed over on this are the people who owe a debt that's already insured and written-off in advance, and the citizens who pay taxes that must pay it back once or twice on top of that.

So even if you live in a country or a location where Paypal cannot collect from you or your local or regional government prohibits them from being able to, they make other people pay for it instead even if they can't put it as a bad mark or on your credit score in that country.

I cannot use Paypal for local online purchase of products. I have to use either Net banking or Credit card or Debit card. I am not comfortable on providing credit card information to others. So I prefer Net banking facility to transfer payment.

I find it very useful to be able to buy things online due to me residing in a rural area. I am very limited as to the shops my family has to choose from. I usually use my Paypal account to do all my online purchases. So using my credit/debit card has been very safe and beneficial. Anyone who frequently shops online should get a Paypal account pronto..this way you won't have to worry.

Paypal is actually less safe than a normal credit card payment. The bank will issue a chargeback if you complain about not receiving your product, and if you google around there is several complains of paypal swallowing money.

Merchants choose paypal because it's actually easier and require less paperwork to get one, that's not done for security reasons. To be able to charge credit cards directly they would have to make an actual ink and paper contract with the bank.

How safe your payment details are purely depends on the site you use to buy, and the method you used to buy it with.

Most sites these days are fairly secure and even if they do get hacked, the chances of them getting all your details is small if the site security works as and how it should do.

Also I would like to add.... make sure you always know where your debit cards are connected to. I had a problem with a subscription I knew nothing about...charged my debit card and wiped my account clean almost. I was not aware and the emails were going to an old email address. Most of those companies keep presenting the charges to your account even months after being unsuccessful. Just double check any subscriptions and make sure you are aware of any recurring payments you may have signed up for.

It is safe to use your credit card only on trust worthy sites. For example,I have bought goods on Amazon using my credit card and I neve have had any problems. It is better to use paypal if you have paypal option while buying goods or service if you don't not sure about the trustworthiness of the site.

If you have an anti spy software installed there is really not that much to worry about. If you are a little skeptical then you need to ensure that you have these things installed on your computer. I know for a fact that Web-root spy sweeper is a good thing to have installed. Essentially it does the handwork for you and you can have a more enjoyable stress free shopping experience.

I do not think it is safe to use a credit card online, because I know a person who got hacked 8 times. I mean even if the company is reputable any company can get hacked, because think about it if any government can get hacked why can't a company. Also, Paypal is probably the safest bet, but you can still get hacked though it is unlikely.

I can't say anything is 100% safe, but I do feel safe when I purchase anything through Paypal. I have never seen them get hacked and their company is very reputable. So whenever I make a purchase I try and do so through Paypal.
