I have seen in TV that there are many people who have like stalls in some busy street. And they tend to make profit during the busy days. I am not sure how hectic and tiring that is. As in working in the cold and the sunny days out open. It can be bad for health with all the pollution as well. However considering those stalls do make profit after certain time it can be worth trying out. It seems ready to eat food, vegetables, plastic items can be sold for some profit. And there seems to be demand for such in the open street.

Do you have any experience in this niche? Have you tried such business?

Street stalls are highly profitable in my country. Their products are always in demand almost on a daily basis by different sets of people. They depend on high turnovers to be profitable. And they actually get those turnovers with their huge demand.

Do you think that street stalls are more or less popular than they used to be? Shops, in general, are struggling becuase of online shopping, but I guess street stalls won't suffer in the same way - the products they tend to sell (low value, and often impulse buys) are not as susceptible to the same problems as real shops.

They are doing quite well here because the cost of running them is very low compared to shops, especially those that are located in big malls.

Many have had to close down before the end of the year to avoid becoming totally bankrupt.

Exactly right , if the of running is low and any business is profitable , in my opinion no person will close out his business actually to be honest that is because everyone know that he can make much money with the business than being out of it actually indeed .

Online shopping is not rooted in my country just yet. I don't think up to 5% of the population would do majority of their shopping online. That's why street stalls still gain traction in my country and would still remain that way at least for the next ten years. Online shopping has no effects on street stalls whatsoever in my country.

Those owning roadside stalls need to use the same strategy as any other business.

They too have competition. They need to place their stalls at strategic points so that it becomes easy for buyers to reach them.

They sure earn well else they would not be seen there Some have been doing this kind of business for years.

They have to be strategically competitive no doubt but insinuating that they would go extinct because of e commerce and online shopping is erroneous. People would still step out from their houses to buy retail rice from street stalls alongside the condiments. This is a daily practice for a sizeable number of people. It is more convenient for them and that's the reason street stalls would keep thriving.

There is a particular class and that could be a huge percentage that depends on roadside stalls. Saying that E commerce will ruin them is therefore not correct. Have you forgotten gol gappas where even celebrities queue up? (lol)

Yes you are right they need to use their locational spots perfectly if they are able to target people out properly then they are indeed able to earn much money actually which is their success path actually major companies always tend to forget about these stalls and that allows them to grow .

The majority of locals patronise these small street stalls. I have like two of them operating in the compound where I live and they are seriously making money. And the funny part is that no matter how much they might seem to be in a particular location in my place, they still operate and get substantial patronage.

I think that street stalls could be very profitable. This, however, also depends a lot on where your stall is located. There are many people who tend to start a stall in crowded places and I think that they are the ones that tend to earn far much more than others who start a stall in isolated places. So, the location of the stall could play a role.

There is something romantic about these stalls specially eatables. On a hot summer day who can resist sipping tender coconut standing by the road? And as you have said if they are in the vicinity they do get patronized
