I need a logo for my site, how much should I pay the designer for a professional and unique logo?

I would expect to pay $50-100 USD on the low end for a quality logo. Even though a good logo looks very simple, a considerable amount of time goes into creating one. When you hire a designer, they will typically specify that they will create a certain number of concepts in their contract (usually around 5) for you to pick from, and then they'll polish one of your choosing into the final product.

Thinking that you can get a quality piece for as low as $10 is unrealistic. Working an hour at a minimum wage job pays more than that and requires no special creativity or talent.

I may think it will depend upon your requirement and the time spent by the freelancer. If you have a sample, or you could do a rough graph then it would be cheaper for you, without these things it costs more than $25.
I think it would be a better way to buy a theme and ask them to do Logo also, these could be an easier way for designing everything.

Man, you guys are doing it wrong. Hire five guys from fiverr.. total cost is $25 and you will have 5 designs to choose from and have contact with five people, most of which will be willing to make changes if you end up not liking all 5. The high rated guys on fiverr are just as good, and sometimes the same people, who are charging $250 on personal websites.

The majority of a businesses budget is taken up with advertising, and a company logo will come under that banner. Especially when a company is first starting out then you are obviously going to want to get your name out there, and a eye catching design and maybe a slogan is one of the best ways of doing that. That isn't to say that you should spend more than you can afford and hope that it eventually pays for itself, as there are a lot of design companies out there now and especially on the internet, that can design logos at a very low cost that will be as effective as the ones that charge a fortune.

Always paid at most $20 for a logo, maybe for big project would invest more for a unique logo, but for low traffic sites I wont bother too much, you can always change it later.

I paid $25 for BMF logo, I believe it's a good logo, the cost is also cheap, I was lucky to choose from many logos too.

I think depending on how you choose to go with the quality the price will vary. You get what you paid for. Some of the logos made for branding and identity cost very high. You can see that some of those logos require you to work with designer. If you choose to ignore the process and just want something ready made then you're going to have to go through revision. Keep designer in a loop pay him for revisions. And then get you logo properly done. Avoid rushing for low cost. That's not how brands are built.

Depends of the logo type, depends of the provider.
I picked the second poll option, $25. I've been paid less than $10 for logos recently (well, on amateur forums), but I do think that $50 is way too much for a simple logo. Except if you're an actual influent enterprise/association where $25 would be like 0.01% of your budget.

It depends on your budget, website type and viewers (the traffic).
First, you need to know that you can find really talented guys that make those logos at cheaper prices than a professional company and the quality can be more higher.
Also, depends on your budget but again I will choose a talented guy, better than a company.
Also, depends on your website type and how it looks as a page.
And finally, you need to know if deserve to invest in a logo. For example, if you have an older audience, in my opinion, you shouldn't give more than 20$ because older people don't look at page design, most of them. If you have a younger audience you should invest a little bit in your logo.

Fiveer may not be a good option all the time. I have seen some people coming up with concepts. Lot of logo designers are not that good. In fact some of the logos that you find with fiverr are good enough for typical generic side. It takes time for such logos to change later. As for 5$ you get only output and not the PSD so it's not worth it often.

I voted for the middle price, $25, I believe this is what I can afford, as $10 could be too low for a creative design job if it needs few hours to think and create it.

Well being a designer I would say it's a task worth $25 to 50. That's because it takes a lot of time and effort to whip it up also is equally pain in ass for the designers to think of an innovative and unique design to satisfy the needs of a customer. So paying that much for a logo design is quite normal these days.

Glad that I am paying a fair price. I think it might be underpaid if the logo is really nice and unique.

It will depend on your budget, how much you are willing to pay on the logo. I would recommend anywhere between 10-50$. Another factor is how well designed the logo is. If it is a well designed logo, then you should pay more for it.

I voted for the middle option since in most cases, that's the best one. You never want the really cheap services nor really expensive. But generally speaking, how much you should be paying for a logo depends on many different factors such as; what sort of logo it is, how hard was it to make, how long it took and more.
