I will try sold some my scripts, sport and movie sites, so I don't know for how long I should provide support for scripts.
Should I charge fix price for script and offer support for extra money or I should offer support in basic price without option extra paying?
Do you decide about support taking consideration aobut how big project price is?

Thanks for advice.

I am not expert in this, but I have always seen 6 month free support after sale. I always wanted to just give one year free support, but whenever my clients asked me to make some minor changes, I just didn't charge them. That's because I don't have many clients and didn't sell many projects, hence I can afford to do so. I think giving 6 months or one year free support is good enough, but enhancement or updates is not included. Perhaps you can mark up the price a little bit to cover the free support.

For how much did you sell your projects? I think if I will sell something for 10$ than support should be free for one month. Price is not high so client should not expect to long support.

If you check sites like Envato and Mojo themes. You'll notice that they expect you to support it for say around 6 months or so. After that however you may have to ask them to upgraded version or keep them only on security patches if it's plugin or theme. Most WordPress plugins and themes have 1 year contract. So choose what works for you.

As my projects are websites and web applications, so the price varies according to the complexity. I agree with you, perhaps one month free support is good for a $10 product. But as @overcast mentioned, I have always seen those themes selling at around $12 or more comes with 6 month free support. You can offer what works well for you and what you feel comfortable with, especially at the beginning. Then you may adjust it later if needed.

How much cost your most expensive project and how much did you offer support? And if it's not problem, how many time did you sell that project? Thanks for sharing information.

You can only give 1 month support for free then start charging support charges because in the first there could be some bugs in your products so you may clean all bugs in that time period. Change in product or enhancement in product will not come under support or maintenance.

I believe that it will take about six months for anybody who has bought my script to be able to fully settled down with it and understand it fully. Within that time I can be able to fully offer them support and if possible some kind of consultancy for what they can further do with it. Anything other than that I am definitely going to charge them.

I believe that my clients are the reason that my business is running which is why I really respect them and always try to be as cooperative as I possibly can. Those that buy from me even if they have some questions related to the product a whole year after I sold it to them I would happily answer their questions without giving them any hard time

I don't really know much about this but it depends on the amount your client pay that will determine if it will require long-term service or not and you have to come to an agreement before selling..

Depends on what kind of project you're selling. If it's a digital products like books, then maybe you can offer only a limited support. But, if you are selling stuff like WordPress theme or a tool or a software, then most sellers offer lifetime support. Since outdated software can be invaded by virus.

I conquer with @Emoney,the project or product you are offering determines the longevity of the support you should offer owing to the fact that they could be some backend upgrades constantly being updated due to the increase on technical glitches including viruses.

So those people act as feedback givers towards the improvement of your product or service by the you the developers.

This is often a very important part of every project that you are saying it and it should be something that should be included in the contract as well. On a personal perspective due to customer retention and wanting a very good customer service, I can be able to offer additional support for a project 6 months after it has been delivered. I believe that it is going to be at a very good functionality and 6 months is enough for somebody to be able to be conversant with that product.

It depends on how the business is operated and most of the time I have sewn companies that sell their websites at least offer a three month to 12 Month service it only includes the things that need tweaks not updates are included they are always charged to the consumer depending upon the complexity of the problem that arises in the specific time.

As an AI language model created by OpenAI, I do not sell projects and therefore do not offer support for any sold projects. OpenAI offers support for its API and platform, but does not provide support for projects created by third-party developers or individuals using its API.
If you have purchased a project from a different company or individual, you should reach out to the seller or developer directly for support and maintenance services. The duration of support offered for a specific project may vary, so it is important to clarify this with the seller or developer before making a purchase.

Whenever I get into a business I try and check what the biggest players in the industry are doing and see how I can replicate that in my own business as easy as that, even though there are sometimes you need to innovate and create a new way of doing stuffs, check other script sellers and see if you can copy their method of providing support.

We can provide upto 30 days of support atleast if the service for support does not takes much time but if requires you to spend more than 5 minutes daily you should charge for it and not provide your time for free indeed .

The choice of how long to offer script assistance is a challenging one. It is crucial to take into account the script's intricacy, the possibility of future modifications, and the requirements of the audience. A typical strategy is to charge extra for help or include a specific level of support in the base price while offering the script for a fixed fee. The scope and complexity of the project, as well as the demands and expectations of the client, must all be taken into account. To get feedback, it could be worthwhile to perform market research or interview prospective clients.

I have mostly done that upto 6 months which is a rule of the thumb as most people offer that much support if that is for short issues which can be sold quickly any big help will take time and will require payment for it.

Some providers offer support for a year or more, while others offer lifetime support. The level of support also varies from provider to provider. Some providers offer full-service support, while others offer more limited support.
